You can't just put him in the 9th inning no matter what and expect it to work. You could be facing a part of the order that has some lefties coming up or the other team could have some good lefty pinch hit options. You want to use him when the matchups look more favorable. 7th inning and a string of righties are coming up. 6th inning jam with 2 outs and a runner in scoring position with a righty at the dish.
