Lefties have a .405 wOBA against him this year compared to just .251 against righties. (.329/.270 split for his career.) 

I think this largely shows Sewald has no business closing out games. It appears that 39 of his 45 appearances came in the 9th inning and with such extreme platoon splits it would be far too easy to stack the lineup with left handed pinch hitters.

Yes exactly. You can't just put him in the 9th inning no matter what and expect it to work. You could be facing a part of the order that has some lefties coming up or the other team could have some good lefty pinch hit options.

You want to use him when the matchups look more favorable. 7th inning and a string of righties are coming up. 6th inning jam with 2 outs and a runner in scoring position with a righty at the dish. Situations like that.

Question for the people on here that have a better knowledge of advanced stats and interpretation of minor stats.

Is there potential for Lenyn Sosa to be a long-term breakout candidate to become a star? He's still only 26 and not even a full year removed from a 22 HR season.

I don't want to write off guys too early. Some of the greatest Blue Jay legends of the past 2 decades have been late bloomers that came out of nowhere (i.e. Bautista, Encarnacion, Donaldson had his breakout season at age 27). Plenty of other guys around the majors this year that are considered top hitters in the majors that were relatively unknowns not to long ago.

Curious on what people think of Sosa
