We are playing like absolute dogshit and it's about as bad of a start to the season that you could imagine. Yet we're only 2.5 games behind the Yankees who are two Jordan Romano appearances away from a 9 game losing steak. Thing can only go up from here. Majority of our errors have been from our pitchers and catchers it feels like. They cannot be that bad going forward. Terminator 1
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted Thursday at 09:40 PM Posted Thursday at 09:40 PM Blue Jays are 19 to 1 right now to win the World Series. Not much of a difference between what they were previously (17 and 15 to 1), so Vegas still thinks they should be in it. Terminator and Spanky__99 1 1

It really was about all 3 of them in the minors until Biggio shat the bed in the bigs by never swinging the bat. Piasentin?

Laika Community Moderator Posted Friday at 01:40 PM Posted Friday at 01:40 PM The MLB offense can't flip a grilled cheese right now but I kind of like what the Jays are cooking in the minors so far in 2026. Daniel Guerra was nasty yesterday and seems to have a fastball with good characteristics https://www.milb.com/vancouver/video/daniel-guerra-s-11-strikeouts Last year his fastball sat 93,8 with an 18.8 IVB. Any kind of velo spike and the 6'6" righty will be very interesting. Nolan Perry (video above) has gained a tick from last year and is now 94+ with similar IVB to Guerra. See image. Stanifer had a good outing and has a decent K-BB and good K rate. Ignore the earned runs so far. Noise.
Laika Community Moderator Posted Friday at 02:10 PM Posted Friday at 02:10 PM More generally: Dunedin is #1 in the FSL in OPS. 13 team homers is five more than the second best team. Dunedin arms are #1 in the FSL in K/BB rate. This is skewed perhaps by three major leaguers (Yesavage, Berrios, Corbin) rehabbing there but Perry and Karson Ligon are names to watch. Troy Guthrie is there too, I think I saw him on a sleeper list. The Vancouver rotation with Daniel Guerra, Johnny King, Austin Cates, and Landen Maroudis is interesting for sure. The Fisher Cats lead the Eastern League in OPS. Keys, Bohrofen, are mashing. Mechiletti, Goodwin, and Hornung are doing very well. The Fisher Cats have the youngest pitching staff in the EL. Stanifer is the main prospect. Javen Coleman is older but apparently a legit LH relief prospect. Fernando Perez young. Buffalo sucks Eat My Shatkins 1
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted Friday at 02:30 PM Posted Friday at 02:30 PM Just a quick note that Nolan Perry didn't play last year. TJS late 2024. But good to see a velo uptick upon his return. I for one LOVE discussions and updates on prospects. I know there's a prospect thread under the "other" section of this site, but could there be consideration to just adding it here - where everyone lives/posts?

According to fangraphs they are at 2% to win world series, 9% for division and 32% for playoffs. That is 49-1. So Vegas odds reflect that "the crowd" I guess thinks it better than that. Fair enough. Complain if you want about Fangraphs models, but Jays are now ranked 19th out of 30 teams according to playoff chance. They are all of a sudden a sub-average team in terms of "expected happiness provided to fans" in 2026. At least according to fangraphs.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted Friday at 03:41 PM Posted Friday at 03:41 PM This guy's predictions on the pitching staff seem wrong and there could be another injury by then (hopefully something minor!) but reinforcements are coming. Kirk will be back 2-4 weeks after this.

New Hampshire is good especially for lefties. So maybe I exaggerate but I think Sean Keys might go .220 .350 .400, in Vancouver, .300 .400 .600 in New Hampshire (exciting), then .270 .370 .450 in Buffalo. I'm making up numbers point is guys may not put up sexy numbers in Vancouver then too sexy in New Hampshire. Someone with a BA subscription can let us know the Park Factors.

Van is just humid and hot in the summer, ball doesnt fly as well. New Hampshire RF porch is 306 and only 353 to right centre. To say its lefty power friendly is an understatement. To put that in perspective, that's 8 feet shorter in RF and 43 feet shorter than Yankee Stadium's joke dimensions in the same spots. Olerud363.354 1

No way ETA could realistically be any where between late next year or sometime 2028 IF he has as good as we hope. Like 2030 would mean a full year at each level, and that doesn't happen unless there is a bump in the road. If things are going good he'll do two levels a year. hanton 1
