Nope but I did just see that David mentioned Moon will start his season with the FCL Blue Jays

Thanks. So May 2 is the league start date this year, another month to go before box score hunting commences.

Schneider added that Kirk will undergo a procedure to address a fracture in his left thumb, but isn’t dealing with any ligament damage. There should be a definitive return timeline following the surgery later this week. However, fans should anticipate a multi-week absence. It’s an encouraging update after the 27-year-old backstop hit the injured list over the weekend after taking a foul tip off his hand during last Friday’s extra-inning game against the White Sox. It’ll be Tyler Heineman handling the catching duties in his absence unless Toronto brings in some additional veteran depth.

Little off this team is a victory for me. Helps me overlook the fact that the baseball gods seem intent on taking some equity back for last year's run.

I would think something like 2-3 months is a conservative estimate. Especially since he’s a catcher.

Explains a lot so far.

Keep playing like this and all the fans will be too.

Yikes if that's the conservative estimate are you saying his season could be in jeopardy?

For what it's worth, Mitch Bannon wrote 3-6 weeks but that seems pretty generous. Put me down for 6 to 8. Broken and dislocated but no ligament damage.

Yes plus ramping up again. I’d think we see him back sometime around the ASB.

Wake up boys, hits with RISP man.

5 game losing streak in the first couple weeks is no fun. And not hard to see that it could be 7 by the end of this series.

Hopefully this flu thing has run its course

This scattered/cluttered graph that I can't read doesn't make me feel any better.

That's kind of the point.  Batting average with runners in scoring position is quite random.  We've struggled mightily with is so far this year.  That won't continue.

Toronto .300 wOBA (rank 18th in MLB)

Toronto .332 xwOBA (tied for 5th in MLB)

4th in Defensive value. Exactly average in BsR (0.00)

Pitching ERA vs xERA, FIP, xFIP:

4.71 3.37 3.76 3.05

That xFIP is #2 in baseball, xERA is 7th best

#1 in baseball in K% from the pitching staff and #3 in K-BB%

Also a 2.98 SIERA good for 3rd best in baseball

Despite all of this the team is 4-6, with a 3-7 Pyth W-L and a -20 run differential

what the f*** is going on, dudes?

The unluckiest team in baseball through 10 games + injuries being piled on for additional insult.

Every year is the same s***. I don’t understand why.

I still believe in this team and that they will be fine, but its gonna be a tight race for a playoff spot all year long I think.

Nothing ever comes easy for this franchise. Stupid ass Beeston and his insistence on staying in the AL east.

This makes me feel a lot better. I mean I was already as cool as a cucumber. But it's always good to get some confirmation.

After looking at all these numbers, my main hope is simply that the team does not panic.

The only player getting "lucky" is Gimenez and it's marginal luck (.335 vs .308)

Poor Daulton Varsho has the highest contact% of his career and best xwOBA ever, and nothing to show for it

Barger and Lukes have legit sucked but even they are getting unlucky, somehow. lol

Toronto leads baseball in line drive rate, which you think would be good but it can lead to randomness like this. Not enough barrels. Need to elevate those into flyballs. They can't catch homers.

Vlad has like 3 big flyballs hit to the fences already. Bit of wind or half degree launch difference he could have 4 homers lol.

The top three stories on MLBTR right now are:

  • Cody Ponce to undergo emotionally life-altering knee surgery
  • Blue Jays designate Josh Fleming for career re-assignment, put Barger on the IL, select Patty Corbins and Tooter Fitzmuffin
  • Alejandro Kirk to undergo invasive experimental thumb surgery

The Jays are the talk of baseball!

But at least we aren't the 2-8 Red Sox.

Honestly it WILL be ok, we just need the rest of our rotation back. Which apparently shouldn't take longer than a few weeks to get all of Trey/Berrios/Bieber ready.

Surely there can't be any more injuries sustained this year right? There's no way

I'm watching the pregame. They highlight how Varsho has been moved up to the 2 hole tonight and talk about his struggles this year after a hot spring training.

Would it kill them to give the audience some of these advanced metrics to help fans understand some of the underlying information that teams use to better predict future outcomes?  Or are fans just too stupid to grasp it?

To be fair I bet most of the people watching don’t want to hear some stat nerd come on and talk about xwOBA when the Jays have looked downright awful the last week.

The latter, nerds go to podcasts, lol.
