Santander, Barger, cash, and prospects swap

Yesavage isn't going anywhere lol

That's apparently what they asked the Jays for. Your offer is an instant hangup. Santander has no value.

lol c'mon man get real

Yesavage and Barger combine to project the same value as Marte and Barger is 6 years younger, while Yesavage is 8 years younger. Plus they are both pre-arb

Ok so follow the context of the post. I wouldn't make that trade personally. That's the package they are looking for.

Do an overlay in AL East parks when he's done, HR's will be added, sir. Why are you an asshat today, just felt like it?

Spanky don’t be so gd sensitive

Pulled air rate is good just like fastball velocity is good. It’s not inherently better in any setting

Santander has value if cash is involved

Anyway, the d'backs want mlb pitching back in a marte deal so neither of our suggestions work

Has to be Clase DFA’d to make room? He’s out of options and there’s no way in hell he’s making this stacked team

Or Nance, what are they doing with Bastardo and the other rule 5 we grabbed, name escapes my mind?

The jays don't have the right pieces for a Marte deal.

I still think its more likely that the Jays sign more free agents than trade for Marte.

Ross Atkins has signed the top FA starter, the top setup man, the best hitter in Japan the past few years, and the best starter in the Korean league last year.

Brian Cashman brought back a side armer who throws 80 mph lmao

If the owners don't F things up and demand a salary cap, then the current CBA (even with some added penalties for CBT offenders) is perfect for this version of Rogers. The Jays could literally be the AL version of the Dodgers if the front office plays things right, and now they've entered the Japan/Korea pipeline to acquire talent.

Career vs LHP

156 wRC+

Career vs RHP

143 wRC+

So no need to platoon.

It is interesting that the Jays have very few hitters where being in a platton would  help them.

He's in everyday player for sure but he could move around a bit. He's best at First Base but we have Vlad. Has played Third. Has played a little bit of OF corner. And DH is occupied. So realistically he's the everyday LF with some 1B starts. Doubt much 3B starts unless injuries.

We're still overloaded with designated hitters.  On a personal note, I would love Davis Schneider as the 2b.  I can't justify it other than I think that guy is awesome.

MLBTR was 4/64

The Athletic was 4/78

Given what we’ve seen the other two big Asian signees end up with I’m going to assume everybody likes this contract when it’s announced

So he got a bit less than projected... nice

I was talking about ball park HR overlays is an advantage is all, I was agreeing with the pull flyball rate. And said it helps in the East.

You were being facetious, that I'm sure.

They can still sign Tucker or Bo. This move does not prevent that. Hell, they could still sign both but I doubt that happens. 😄

Apparently he was granted an extra minor league option, so they might end up keeping him if they think he has any upside. Could mean the end of Jimenez who has no clear path to playing time next season.

Neat, that's efficient.

Astros are trying to cut costs and they have a pricy closer...

Gotta find a way to trade from a position of strength.  If we get Bo or Tucker then this becomes a DREAM offseason.

Would they still be below Dodgers level spending if they signed both?

This signing moves the Jays past the stinking Yankees into 2nd place in overall fWAR projections with 46.7 fWAR. Dodgers still in 1st with 51,1 fWAR

Probably more incentive to add Tucker. Keep him away from the Dodgers.

I have lost track of the payroll. I am sure one of the payroll gurus on the board has crunched the numbers.

The problem is that the numbers they are throwing around for Tucker and Bo are all over the place. So there is a lot of assumptions and different scenarios depending the contract details involved.

I dont' think either Tucker or Bo are getting the contracts they originally wanted. Look at Imai and Okamato signing just before their respective deadlines.
