That's wild!

This guy seemingly does it for no reason than to flex that he can?

But this has happened before at the MLB level, dictated by necessity:

Velasquez gets drilled on his throwing arm, and switches to make the play using his off hand. An even more impressive play I would say.

He wouldn't have got the out if he used his left hand

Are we sure about this? It seems like he wastes more time awkwardly taking off his glove to field it with the opposite hand than just charging it and picking it up with his dominant hand. If you look at the Velasquez play ahead, he recovers a lot more gracefully and athletically, by ditching the glove entirely and hard charging the ball.

Not like he needed to Jeter jump throw to first, the angle is more or less the same regardless of which arm the pitcher decides to throw with.

Yeah I was thinking he got the guy by less than a step. If he had to use his left hand he would have to turn his whole body around before he throws and likely would not have got the out. Or at least that's the way I see it.

Pirates released Ozuna

Awful season for him

I hope he isn't taking his frustrations out on his wife again.  I suspect his career is over.

That's awfully kind wording for a domestic abuser.

You both couldn't be more wrong about this.

Ozuna is innocent. He was the victim of domestic violence in 2020 when his wife threw glass at him and cut his eye. She was arrested, charged, and a protective order was issued.

In 2021, the most flimsy and overcharged case in the history of domestic violence was levied against him. It was all based solely on body cam footage which you can see here:

His hand is on her neck but he's pushing her away as she appears to be trying to take a phone out of his injured hand. Remember, this is a woman with a history of DV and Ozuna almost lost an eye after her previous attacks. And as big as he is, he appears to be showing quite a bit of restraint in trying to get his phone back. If he wanted to, he could have taken far more aggressive measures in defending himself.

But prosecutors charged him with felony strangulation and battery anyway. Any lawyer worth a lick could get that tossed and indeed the strangulation charge was dropped almost immediately. The remaining charges were also dropped after he completed a short pretrial program. He has no criminal record other than a DUI arrest in 2022 (one of America's favorite past times). So no, he's not a domestic abuser.

If anything, the more accurate sentiment would be to express hope that Mrs. Ozuna doesn't take out her frustrations on HIM being cut, or to refer to her as the "domestic abuser". Ozuna himself is a victim of DV, not a perpetrator.

Now with all that said, I have reached out to Mr. Ozuna to see if he'd like me to represent him in a defamation case against the both of you. In the meantime, please retain and preserve all documents, correspondence, electronic communications, and other records relating to this matter. You will hear from me shortly.

Sorry - my bad.  I hope Ozuna doesn't go on another DUI joy ride.

Wasn't Ozuna suspended by MLB for the DV charge?  But fair, I ought to know my sh*t better before I rip the guy.

Unfortunately once you are just accused, many people just assume guilt

It's crazy to me that Chris Sale can continue to be so elite at 37 years old after 17yrs in the majors, throwing at an awkward angle and post tommy john.

Wild game, Chapman blows the save, bomb by Meirdoth in the 9th; then numerous lead changes until Boston walks it off in the 13th.  Trevor Richards sucks

I think this is likely due to people being exonerated not receiving the same type of coverage as when they are initially accused.

RED sox win 6 in a row now.  what is that 21/22 now??

Favourites now in a lot of peoples minds for their 5th World Series title of the century.   Obviously top 3 franchise with LA, and NY.  Ranking now is LA, Boston, NY in my mind.

People on the board won't admit it, but they know it deep down.  Wonder how Grant is doing?

Boston is just a different place.  Superior to all of us.  Home of MIT, Havard, best marathon in the world, best sport teams in the World, liberal progressive city if you are into that scene.  Kindest people I've ever met.

Yea it's a great city.  I wish I was from there.  Full of history and culture.  I wish we didn't trade Betts though way back when.

Just checked out his stats.  Awful.  Only 33.

If people aren't into Boston admiration (those of us who wish for better days, know you must admire those better, before you yourself will take the step, thus the true fans, admire Boston, because we know it is the only out of this).  But I digresss....  if you want another topic of conversation.

What the hell is going on with Vlad, Betts, Raleigh and a few others?  Like how are these people so bad?

Is it some data voodoo.  The AI crunched and crunched and crunched and found pitches these guys can't hit ?

Maybe this has always happened, the unexplainable collapse in what should be prime.  I don't know.  It just seems weird.

Betts is following the path of Arenado.  There are lots of examples of guys who's bat disappears as they approach their mid-30's.  Evan Longoria was similar.  Lots of middle infielder have as well.

I have to think the move to SS at age 32 has been difficult on Betts.  I mean kudos to him for being able to do it - it's a remarkable feat to move to SS at age 32, having never played it in your career.  He deserves a ton of credit for doing it and helping the team.  However, it might shave 10+ WAR off his career numbers.

The guy is one of the very best baseball players of our era.  Mad respect for him.  He's going to Cooperstown one day.
