PCA hits for the cycle. After a slow start, he's been on fire. Up to a 135 wRC+.

He's one of the best players in baseball if the bat this good.  He fell off in the 2nd half last year.  Hoping he's figured out how to sustain it.

PCA hits for the cycle!   the last hit was a single, then gets picked off lol/  Oh well

Lauer gives up a 3 spot in the 1st, LA gets 3 right back in the bottom of the inning

FWIW Lauer kinda looks the same as he did here

Yeah he seems to have gotten a mile of velo back on his fastball but his FIP is still really bad with the Dodgers and he is striking out even less with them than he did here.

I hope he didn't sell his place in Korea...

Yankees seem likely to run away with the division but they may have playoff rotation questions

Cole and Rodon both look kind of pedestrian. Warren got blown up last postseason. Weathers is doing classic Ryan Weathers, good/bad things. Fried injured, big question mark.

Only Schlitter is totally scary. I wouldn't be surprised if they start Cole/Friend/Rodon in the ALDS and they get blown up.

The Yankees winning a World Series a few months after the Knicks win a title, a year after the Jays choked one away, and a few months before baseball begins a lockout that might miss parts or all of next season would certainly question my sports fandom. I could see it happening though. The AL is trash, and the NL will beat up on each other.

Banning high school signings is wild

An international draft has always made sense and would probably be an improvement over whatever the current system is. It's already heavily capped, anyway.

Just the owners trying to spend less in the draft again.

NCAA loves this idea for sure though

Yeah this would be a godsend for college baseball.

But eliminating high school players just feels wrong. Dreaming on high school talent has always been a huge part of pro baseball.

If the owners don't get a cap (they probably won't unless they want to miss an entire season), then this feels like their fallback. Curbing amateur/international spending and making it more likely that players enter free agency later in their careers will ultimately help the owners. College will effectively become the new developmental system for the league. Not sure if this will be good or bad or neither, but could definitely see the owners backing off from a cap and ending up getting something resembling this in return for it. Which is probably their plan. Offer the 1 thing the other side will absolutely say no to (cap/floor) and also offer them 3-4 other things that they don't like but will be more willing to bend on when you remove the cap from the conversation.

That's why I predicted the 78-84 Jays will beat the 108-54 Yankees in a playoff series....

It likely won't be that ridiculous because one of the mediocre teams will win 83 and that will be the one that gets the last wild card...  probably.  Just this season is setup for something silly like that to happen.

Yes and with a cease/gauseman/yesavage rotation wild card could go either way really

Yankees up 4 - 0 on the Reds after 5, the story though is Schlitter, literally blowing away batters.  12 K's sitting at 98/99

Man him vs yesavage pitching matchups are going to be exciting for years to come!

Trade deadline gonna be weird

Lots of buyers (some who probably shouldn't) and not many sellers?

And a TON of teams on the fence rn who probably don't know what they should do yet

wow what a moment

on top of Schwarber's 3 home runs Harper hits for the cycle, that's the 2nd time in major league history teamates hit 3 home runs and the cycle in the same game.  The other was 1932 Yankees

Harper is a terrible baserunner, just an average throw on two of those hits he is out

how many games were there where a team came back from 5-0 and the closer did a 6 out save while also overpaying for a member of the Guerrero family?  You could argue both are equally as impressive.

Yep, home scorer on the triple, could have been ruled a double as the throw went home instead of to 3rd......and just on the triple, double was legit - not his fault on the s***** fiedler

IIRC they are local baseball personal appointed by MLB, writers, former players...etc

From what I could find

MLB official scorers are technically league-appointed independent contractors rather than direct, full-time employees of an MLB club or the league office in the traditional sense.

Here is how the system works:

  • League Appointment: Since 1980, Major League Baseball has centralized the appointment of official scorers. This was done specifically to eliminate the conflicts of interest that existed when local newspaper beat writers (who were often cozy with the home team) performed the role.

  • Local Assignment: While they are appointed by the league to ensure impartiality, they are effectively "local" in the sense that they are assigned to a specific stadium for the season. Unlike umpires, they do not travel with teams. Most official scorers live in or near the city where they work.

  • Backgrounds: They are typically individuals with deep baseball knowledge—often retired sportswriters, former coaches, umpires, or people with extensive experience in professional or amateur baseball scoring.

  • Professionalization: Because their decisions (such as "hit vs. error") directly impact player statistics, contract bonuses, and league records, the process is highly standardized. Scorers have access to instant replay video and are in constant communication with the MLB stats department in New York throughout the game.

In short, they are independent experts selected and overseen by the league to maintain neutrality, though they usually reside in the local market of the stadium where they are assigned.
