In 1990 people at St. Catherines got to watch Carlos Delgado.  Unbelievable.  Any one here see him?

Certainly Manfred is not responsible for St. Catherines losing their ny penn team, but the ongoing collapse of society is the reason for both St. Catherines losing their team, and no more NY Pen nleague.

In a sane world minor league teams would be many.  There'd be extras.  You'd never eliminate them.  They'd play within driving distance of the home team.  In places like Buffalo, and London, and St. Catherines.

A Jays fan could drive around seeing minor players and Doug Ford would come sometimes and cheer.  Instead they play in Florida at 11:00 every team not near their home team, just in a swamp with Ron Desantis.

If anyone likes that world I guess I am glad it brings you joy.  I prefer the world of the late 80s and early 90s.

I saw him hit 4 bombs at the Dome... 🤷‍♂️

Awesome you got to see that.

I was lucky enough to see Guerrero and Bichette in double a.  Eastern league still gives the opportunity to see great prospects.  Just have to drive a little further for some people.

The NY Penn league was the awesome though, and closer drive for me to see several of the teams.   Big loss.  Any one who says independent ball is the same is wrong.

Personally I never got to see St. Catherines.  But how awesome would it be for several on this board to go to St. Catherines in June and see the Jays college picks... so anyone saying the new system isn't a loss, doesn't know what they missed.   Of course I guess you can go see them in Buffalo when they get there.

Certainly it's not like all minor league teams are in Florida now, just really they cut 15% of them.  Still a loss.  And seems like just a corporate decision, cut teams, more players in Florida and at the complex...

And seems to me a lot of draft picks hardly play their first year.  Like last year Jo Jo Parker didn't play.  Not even injured as far as I know, probably just wanted him hitting off of machines and working on stuff.

Wow please pray for Matt Waldron.

I know modern medicine has come a long way but contracting AIDS is still very very serious.

I've tried various AIDS jokes over the years with little to no success.

I thought for sure that I had a banger this time but only one like??

Most posters would probably give up but I'm determined to make one of these work. Back to the drawing board.

I appreciate the effort Term.  I know you can do better.

Magic only has HIV not full blown Aids.

So Matt Waldron is also a catcher?

ST numbers don't mean a whole lot but McGonigle OPS is 1.302 after his double and triple today.  Detroit must be thinking PPI.  I expect he'll break camp with Tigers and play regularly.

After like 15 plate appearances??

He hasn't been challenged as a hitter at any level and is now handling MLB quality stuff.  Before ST even started he was picked as a potential rookie breaking camp with the team, and so far he has only reinforced that.

On top of that is the PPI incentive and everyone knows what happened with Kurtz last year.

how can the Jays release a Team USA player?!?

:)

Loll, so no more Joe Ryan, and Skubal only pitching 1 game against Great Britain…

Skenes and Webb is still an excellent 1-2, but they need a 3rd good starter to get through the Quarter-Semi-Final

Ryan Scarborough is pitching for the greatest Baseball team ever assembled.

Another fumble by Atkins.

Konnor Griffin with his 3rd HR of ST

He’s going to force the Pirates to take him

Very likely.  Pirates have great pitching, just need bats and Griffin might already be the best in the org.

Calling it right now, Griffin NL ROY, McGonigle AL ROY.  The #1 and #2 ranked prospects.

They butchered Paul Skenes service time, they turned Bubba Chandler mental by letting him rot in the minors last year. Gonna be a ton of pressure internally and externally to break camp with Griffin

Pirates should try and lock up Griffin now.

They can try but I'm sure Griffin will be reluctant to sign long term with a losing org.

Such a bold prediction
