What type of contract does everyone think Bo will command? Does 8/$200M get it done? Or you think some teams will give him more money longer term deal?

Something along those lines. At first I thought 7 years but that of course means 8

Are we even sure Chris Bassitt is a guy you want to commit to as a reliever on a FA contract? Half of the reason he started getting innings was because he was throwing strikes and Schneids had no one else to turn to

I’m not going to lie I haven’t watched a moment of any baseball coverage since Saturday night

I scroll past it on X and I canceled my Sportsnet plus subscription lol

Re-sign Bo if he agrees to be the 2B.  That puts Barger in the OF and Ernie at 3B.

Santander / Lukes can platoon.

Re-sign Bassitt as an RP, stick Fish in Buffalo.

Sign Gallen as SP3.  Gausman, Yesavage, Gallen, Berrios, Lauer, with Francis in Buffalo is fine to start off.

lol Why would we start the season by demoting one of our top relievers?

People keep saying this, but SPs tend to have a lot of pride in that role, and I don't think a guy who's been making 30+ effective starts a year is going to accept that he's a reliever now. Someone will pay Bassitt 2/30 or something to bolster their rotation. Maybe more than that.

I'd be fine with Bassitt as the 5th starter, and use Lauer out of the BP instead

Bassitt is better than Lauer and Berrios so he's not in the pen

Lauer and Berrios would be the SP5 and SP6 (pen) in some order

Gausman, Yesavage, FREE AGENT, FREE AGENT, Lauer, Berrios

Every spring better players with options get assigned to AAA because the team doesn't want to lose players without options for nothing.

There are so many arms available

King, Cease, Gallen, Valdez, Lopez, Ryan, Peralta, Gray, Bieber

With a lockout looming and some of these teams acting like their SNAP got cut off

Have to be aggressive in the upper echelon

Yeah I think this is where the deals are to be had and it's where we can most effectively improve the team to try and win the division again. Yanks and Dodgers have full rotations and probably won't be as big of factors as they normally are too.

I'd like to get Bieber back. He's a control/spin merchant and while he was able to avoid walks I think he left too many cookies over the plate and that hopefully corrects itself in Year 2 of post-TJS.

If you sign him and add another one, you've really got a good shot to win the division again.

  1. YeSavage
  2. Gausman
  3. Bieber
  4. FA/Trade but swing bigger than Bassitt
  5. Berrios/Lauer

I might get tarred and feathered for this, but I wonder if Scherzer would be interested in a Kershaw-like contract.

Fit probably matters as much as anything to Scherzer right now so maybe we could get him back on a cheap one year deal where the expectation is that he makes his debut midway through the season. We could go with a 6-man rotation when he's ready or if there is an injury plug him in as the #5.

It's hard to build pitching depth and something like this could be a way to do it.

That’s how I look at it too. It’s the most obvious spot to make an impact move and we are extremely fortunate Yesavage broke out this month ahead of the offseason. I’d be fine with one year of Freddy Peralta honestly

Looking at the lineup and there really isn’t much room to do anything right now aside from adding one bat which many want are hoping is Bo

What did Kershaw make this year? Cant give Max 15M again

Rotation:

Big fish FA or trade acquisition. Could be Bieber.

Yesavage

Berrios

Gausman

Bassitt

Lauer

If they're all healthy one goes to the pen when there is a batch of off days.

In the post season you move 2 of them to the pen depending on a number of factors.

I think Bassit is the perfect 5th starter in the regular season as we have proof of concept he can throw relief in the playoffs.

Exactly

Previously I thought the same about Lauer. But his last 1/3 of the season made me question it a bit.

I hope not, or else IKF might be getting a QO lol

I’m thinking Peralta, Ryan, Lopez

I think all three are in the last year of their contacts

Baserunning is a pretty big hole.

This is huge! Game 3 could have been over in 9 innings with the Blue Jays on top if Bo wasn't zoned out in the top of the second.

Framber should be target #1 IMO.. then Gleybar. Couple of pen arms, call it a day. Dominican Jesus will bring the compatriots.

It would be nice to have him sure.  But this team tries to avoid “difficult” players.   He has an attitude problem.  Most astros fans don’t like him.

Can you QO a player you trade for in the offseason?

Yes

As long as they've never had a QO before and as long as they spend the whole season with you

I hate that Santander exists. I want Kyle Schwarber on this team so bad. Maybe sign him anyway and dump Santander in Philly. Wishful thinking.

#1 bounce back candidate in MLB next year

Regarding the Japanese free agents:

Do you guys think that given the fact that most of Japan saw the epicness of the Jays in this World Series, the guys giving it their all and Toronto being showcased as an amazing place to play, has the ice been broken a bit?

Will we be able to pry some of them here to join this honorable franchise, or will it be business as usual, Dodgers or bust? Curious to hear the board’s thoughts on this.
