He's stretched out enough to give you 40-60 pitches.  Max or Bassitt wouldn't give you anymore.  Lauer is essentially just as prone to giving up the HR as Bassitt is and he's better than Max - so I have no idea what you're getting at.

Do I wish we had a better 4th starter than Lauer?  Yes - obviously I do, but he's as good of an option as this team has, so suggesting the team failed to carry a 4th starter is dumb.  Lauer is the 4th starter and he's as good of a bet to give us 3 innings as Bassitt or Max are.

We haven’t seen Max in bullpen role. I feel his stuff plays up. But clearly the Jays felt otherwise so it’s an irrelevant point. Not having them on this roster peroid is extremely telling. I just feel this decision will bite them in the ass

Think of it this way. How would everyone feel if the Jays won game one, lost game two and then won game three.  We would be up 2-1 going into game 4. We would all be feeling pretty good. Don't let recent events drag you down.

Why is it so exciting when the jays when and upsetting when they lose?  I don’t even know half the guys on the team personally.

i do like that I can talk s*** on social media’s when they beat a team but also don’t like that I avoid certain social media sites when they lose

You're right that type of thing can psychologically affect how people feel, but I think it's the manner in which the loss happened and the fact that faith in our bullpen right now is, well, not very high. The last two points are obviously related.

Amen

No matter how we got here we're up 2-1 and have 2 chances to put them away.  With the last game at home and extra rest Gausman on the mound.

Sure but I think it's very much the way the Jays lost game 3 that's playing a big role in all the bad mojo.

If the Jays are up by three runs or more and it is past the halfway point in the game ~ say the fifth inning mark I don't have a problem with bringing Gausman in to pitch out of the pen for two innings or more if it means closing this game down. Do what you can to win today and if not then go with Yesavage in game 5.

That's JS' philosophy, he said it again last night, you try to win on any given day in the Post-Season, and you guy's are right.

Yeah.  If we lost 3-1 last night with Beiber going 6 and Fluharty Nance pitching clean innings we'd be excited to see a fresh Varland opening and the board would have half the activity it does.

I think it’s how you lose that hits harder. Blue Jays losing because the Yankees are a good team at home and couldn’t match their offense acceptable. Lose because your stalwart defense faltered multiple times. Manager made questionable pitching decisions and you blow a 5 run lead and lose for the first time all year. It leaves a lasting impression.

Your up 6-1 in a series clincher. We all thought we were winning yesterday.

Barger 4th is interesting. He doesn't really deserve it.

HOWEVER they might have a matchup idea. Maybe they like his chances of jumping a Schlittler fastball more than those of Varsho and Santander (who I could see just getting destroyed by high velo up)

Everybody thinks the Yankees have a huge pitching advantage tonight.

I am sorry but did you ever take statistics? These two are about as even as it gets. This is straight from MLB official website.

Barger looked like he was swinging a golf club not a baseball bat last night.

Sounds like Yesavage might actually be the secret weapon tonight. And why they pulled him at 70+ pitches.

I would guess they only burn him today if the circumstances dictate. Something like, late lead and for whatever reason all the trustworthy relievers are spent.

It's probably because he went to 2-4 against him with a couple of steaks and a BB.

I'm just praying we don't get a 5-5 late in the game and we got the Hoff coming in to face the top of the line up.  I'd rather be disappointed by the 5th lol.

Just save him for game 5.  All these secret plans make me nervous when Schneider can't help himself from making a move when that move is available.

I don’t think anyone would be shocked if they brought Yesavage out late in this game.

They might even make him the Closer and use Hoffman in multi inning role tonight. They might not have a choice. How deep they will go with Varland and Lauer sets up everything. If it works how it did against Boston that would be wonderful but not holding my breath.

Ya I'd definitely switch Varsho and Barger spots in the lineup if I was in charge.

Varsho doesn't do well with high heat and Shitter loves to live high in the zone

I understand this and keep reminding myself. But being up 6-1 with the chance to sweep the Yankees had my emotions running high yesterday. Then collapsing the way we did kept those emotions high, just in a negative way. I'm hopeful for tonight. I think the Blue Jays have shown all year that they can hit the Yankees pitching. I don't care how good Schitty looked against Boston. Boston didn't have anybody swinging the way Vladdy and Varsho are swinging currently.

Ya probably not a big deal either way especially when the Jays chances of winning this game rely so heavily on how well the iffy bullpen pitches.
