Wonder if the team has a celebration when they clinch a playoff spot, or if they try to hold off until the potentially win the division.

He looks pretty good, it might be another close game.

Yeah, he's a soft tossing Lefty with a kitchen sink to throw at ya. Doesn't give up much hard contact.

You party every time you get the chance.  Never know if you'll get another chance

So do the Jays have separate parties if they clinch the playoffs, division and AL?

Feel like they should remain sober until the we at least clinch the division lol.

I don't think they celebrate the playoff spot too much, they celebrate the East for sure. It would be kind of lame to pop champagne on a playoff spot when the Eastern clinch is just around the corner.

If they were scratching and clawing for a playoff spot and made the wild card on the final weekend of the season or something like that, that would justify the champagne celebration. Cleveland should pop champagne if they make the postseason. But given the Jays' situation it should only be on the divisional clinch.

If I was a betting man, I would place a bet on there being at least a small celebration. Making the playoffs in a season in which no one (including myself) believed in them is a huge accomplishment.

I feel like they don't need to take a week off, and the division odds are about as high as the making the playoffs odds. So while I'd probably save the celebration for clinching the division, I don't think I would blame them for celebrating just clinching a spot and then giving the regulars a day off to get over the celebration hangover. There's no 40-man expanded rosters, so it's not like we'll be throwing junk AAAA guys out there if we give some regulars a day off all at once.

i hope we don't clinch a playoff spot today. if we do means both Jays and Tigers win today.

i'd rather Jays and Gaurdians win today

I dont want the Guardians anywhere near the playoffs. It's always those types of teams that just sneak in and wreck plans.

To no one's surprise, I want to face Boston in the playoffs. I think they are, by far, the weakest team in playoff contention. Having them knock out a better team like Houston and then come into Toronto with a tired pitching staff would be a dream for us.

A win today would put the Jays all time record over .500 for the first time in a while.

Only 13 teams are at or over .500 all time. Pirates are also at exactly .500 despite being around since 1882 and have like more than triple the amount of games played as the Jays.

It's heavily skewed towards old teams as well, as the top 10 have all been around since at least 1901. The Jays are the best team from 1997 on by a significant margin. Our poor expansion cousins are several hundred games under and are the only team to never make a World Series.

I would think we see a celebration, champagne and all, if they make the playoffs.

It's easy for us to say they shouldn't celebrate "just" making the playoffs. We watch for many baseball careers worth of time. But for some of these guys it's their first and potentially only playoffs they'll see. They deserve to celebrate
