Jays are first in the AL and just had a huge comeback win and you’re double dog daring people to bet against the Yankees Buddy I’ll bet on what I want to or not. Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2025 Posted September 4, 2025 If you must know, I think it’s going to be a tough series and I’m not sure we’ll win. I most likely will not be betting on it, though there could be some good value as the Jays are likely underdogs for all 3 games. But the main reason I won’t be betting on it is because I almost never do. I took the Jays over on the season win total and bet today’s game when they were down. That’s it. So yeah, probably not betting on it this weekend. Not sure what point you are going for but there you have it sir.

Well there you go, a little bit of honest reflection instead of incessant cheerleading that's all I ask. If our pitching was hot right now I would be all over the Jays in this series, because we are hitting, it just so happens we're catching a Yankees team that's hitting the cover off the ball at a time where we're pitching like s***. Home runs especially will be a concern.

Lmao buddy let me fill you in on something When you make a prediction and it actually comes true, that’s not “incessant cheerleading,” even if you predicted a positive outcome for your own team. That just means guys like Spanky and me KNOW BALL. I get why that’s hard for you to process though, considering (1) you’re the biggest Debbie Downer in this board’s history and (2) literally every single one of your predictions this year has been wrong (unlike mine- all of which have been right). Loool. So we're just telling lies now I see. Wow the Jays finally have a year where they exceed expectations and suddenly you "know ball" lol. You're the broken clock of this board. You overrate this team every f***ing year. You call other teams in our division s*** when they've consistently accomplished more. Listening to you, one would think we've actually accomplished something in the last 10 years. I actually predicted the Blue Jays would be in the wild card hunt in the years that they made the wild card, so before you say I'm always predicting doom you're full of s***. This year I didn't, they're exceeding everyone's expectations, even yours. But the one thing I've consistently maintained in the last few years of failure, is they're not a World Series contender and they're supposed to be. I've been right about that. But you "know ball". Hey man you only need to convince yourself.

Hey man you only need to convince yourself. Why do you need to be this way? The Blue Jays are enjoying a miraculous season and have a legitimate shot to win the division for the first time in a decade but nearly every single post from you is about how something on the Blue Jays sucks and that they have no shot to win the division, they wanted to lose the game because a reliever or two had a tough game, they have no shot to do anything in the post season, they should rebuild the team or #insert doom post of choice here#. We are all aware of the warts on this team right now as they are clearly smacking us all right in the face, but speaking for myself I really don't appreciate a miserable sadsack "fan" acting like a giant wet blanket and seemingly trying to prevent others from enjoying when the team actually wins the goddamn game, which has been a helluva lot more than when they lose if you hadn't noticed, even with the recent pen struggles (I use the term fan very lightly as most of the time it appears that you actually hate the team, front office and manager). You claim that you are enjoying this season but it would be nice if you actually acted like every once in a while. While it may be true that Term can go a little overboard at times with the cheerleading/chest pounding there's a key difference in the two of you. He actually makes the board enjoyable to visit as he makes a lot of really fun/funny posts, whereas you are the complete opposite in that you appear to revel in wrapping the proceedings in a giant black cloud and continuously go out of your way to try to piss in everyone else's cornflakes. Laika Community Moderator Posted September 4, 2025 Posted September 4, 2025 Every year the Debbie Downers of 29 fan bases get to say "I told you so" That doesn't make them special or insightful at all It's actually sort of weird on a personal level to consider yourself to be a fan of one team and then carry that persistent non-fan attitude around all the time. Omar Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2025 Posted September 4, 2025 To be fair to Masterbather he does cheer on the team from time to time. Perhaps he is of the school of thought to expect the worst so one is never disappointed. Back in May (I could easily find the original post) he praised the Jays bullpen for having great arms. The reason I remember it is because it went against his usual criticism and thus made me raise a Spockian eyebrow of curiosity. That said I don't think we should be telling other posters what "don't need" on Blue Jays Centre forums. I trust the mods to sort the wheat from the chaff. Despite my disagreements with him I consider him an overall good addition to the forums (not that my opinion means anything), and someone that shouldn't be chased away. He is a Blue Jay fan just one who sees a dark cloud instead of the silver lining but a fan nonetheless.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2025 Posted September 4, 2025 Folks what's being lost in the shuffle here is my amazing bet from last night. When Springer hit that home run to make it 5-1 I just knew the Jays were going to win. My takes have been so piping hot this year that I just had to follow my gut instinct and throw down 5 units* on a Jays comeback. Sure enough, I was right once again and many people are calling this the greatest sports bet in BJMB/Jays Centre history. *1 unit = 1 dollar. It used to be more but I was fired from my job and my nag of a girlfriend says I need to cut back on the sports betting. Spanky__99, John_Havok, BatFlip and 1 other 3 1
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2025 Posted September 4, 2025 Not to one up you but I was calling for the comeback before the Jays scored a run. But you did put down the pesos so.... Brownie19, BatFlip and Spanky__99 1 2
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2025 Posted September 4, 2025 Fangraph projections has the Jays finishing 2nd in the MLB with 92.7 wins, so basically 12-10 with the remaining schedule. Feels good man. BatFlip, Omar, Terminator and 1 other 2 2
