Frustrating loss.

I blame Little more than anyone.

Thank god this 6 man rotation is done though. We’ve been short staffed and because the bullpen has been in a rut we are using more relievers than necessary on top of it. Multiple things compounding the struggles. 

Im hopeful the pen snaps out of it soon though. Lauer should be a solid long man and then we get another reliever on top of that with expanded rosters. Hopefully that can give the relievers a little rest and they get out of this rut.

The 6 man rotation that turned into just basically not using Lauer and Fisher one of our best relievers being sent to triple A were a tandem of terrible decisions.

Hahaha wow.  You laughed at me for saying we shouldn't be going to a 6 man rotation a few weeks back and now here you are acting like this is what you wanted. 

This is exactly what I was stating in the moment and how there's a domino effect on the bullpen when you go to a 6 man rotation. You wanted that extra rest for all our starters even though only 3 of them and maybe even 2 will matter in the playoffs.

I'm not sure if Little has any options left, but I don't want to see him pitch ever again for the Jays when Fischer gets called up.

Yea I think they've also been doing way too many short bullpen outings. It's like no one can face more than 3 batters.

The thing is just to get a guy up they pitch a lot of warmup/practice pitches. That's all usage whether they actually come out to pitch or not. 

I do wonder if the trend will go back to using relievers for 2 IP more, because this has been a disaster

Schneider over use is why the pen always gets burnt out year after year.

no mention of the bullpen being an arm short at all

Our pen was top 5 in SIERA , RE24 and RA9-WAR coming into August, 3 top components of reliever value, the month has been so bad it's basically pick your poison, they need to stick with them, and for these dingleberries to execute. Can't foresee this collapse the past 4 weeks, no way. Clinch and hope they execute as they did prior to August, it's not out of that realm they turn it around, pen isn't this bad. No f*ckin' way!

Yes, ramp up the starters that will matter in the postseason while maximizing our bullpen with a true long man that would save them in the long run.  I have been Berrios biggest supporter so no need to make stuff up. 

Just had to call out your BS post trying to act like this is what you wanted.  Take the damn L and admit you were wrong lol.  

Anyways, just frustrated with how things have been going lately.  Hopefully we turn it around ASAP.

Yes exactly, things ebb and flow over the course of 162 and in two weeks the bullpen will be fine and the highly regarded members of the board will be zeroed in on something else, claiming they rightly identified a team weakness all along (despite the fact that they thought we were a last placed team entering the season)

That was me I believe, and I still don't think there was anything wrong with that logic, our pen was great up until I said that resting aging mid 30 SP's is a good thing, our pen simply hasn't executed since then, fire at will, ya dingleberry.

I don’t think I was wrong at all, a 6 man rotation during the stretch with no off days isn’t a bad move

unfortunately the pen is taking a fat dump on itself lately and plans need to change 

meanwhile you’ve added a ton of post hoc reasoning to your “ramp up the starters” post but if it makes you feel any better send me your address and I will mail you a Swiss chalet gift card sir!

Nance gave up a hard single to McLain but the two hitters prior to that had EV’s of 71.5 and 82.7. There was really no reason to pull him. My guess is the stats told JS to go to a LHP when it got the top of the lineup, and he blindly went with that. Zero feel for the game.
