Atkins needs to make his trades as late as possible.

He traded for a setup man and the best starter to be moved at the deadline so far.

Meanwhile, the Yankees traded for a couple of Rockies players, a platoon bat and Bednar, but because Bednar was acquired after we made our trades, everyone and their 15-minute attention span thinks Atkins is sitting around not doing anything. Lol

Atkins will f*** this is up.  Even though he has gotten results this year doesn't mean the previous 9 years are erased.

you have literally 0 clue about how Atkins is perceived by other GMs.

This post is actual trash lol

Just going by his dealings in the past ten years.

Seems like kind of a weird trade. Jays must think he can be a decent backup C. Or maybe he gets flipped to another team for a pitcher.

I have a feeling Ross is going to do something crazy like getting Kwan. It seems Cleveland is the only team Ross feels comfortable dealing with as he knows he'll get a fair shake.

Cleveland are known as the team that extracts maximum value from trades. They are the team other teams hate trading with us.

I don't really understand that deal. They must have been planning to DFA Wagner and just wanted to get him off of the 40-man.

If so, should expect Atkins to get fleeced, giving Loperfido +Yesevage and another prospect for Kwan😄

I don't mind getting rid of Wagner. He's super ordinary, no pop and was taking 3B reps away from Barger. Not sure about the return, though. Anyone know about Valanzuela? The Jays do need catching depth regardless.

No its just that we kinda need a player like Bednar so we are pissed he went to the Yankees for peanuts

Padres #22 prospect. From Fangraphs:

Quote

Even though he’s been passed over in multiple Rule 5 Drafts, Valenzuela continues to have good backup catcher projection here at FanGraphs. He’s a quiet pitch framer who is strong at the catch point, as well as an agile thrower with a quick exchange and plus accuracy, and his ball-blocking has improved. Valenzuela is a strength-over-bat speed type of hitter who has some low-ball pull power from the left side. He’s not often on time to pull pitches in the middle of the zone, but he has the strength to threaten the oppo gap even when he’s late. As a righty batter, Valenzuela is almost exclusively an opposite field hitter because of his tardiness. With two below-average offensive tools, his ceiling is limited. Industry inventory at the catcher position ensures he’ll be relevant for as long as he’s mobile and athletic, which for a player with Valenzuela’s physique will probably be for a while.

Ross is cooking something up.

Valenzuela isn't on the 40-man so this clears up a spot.

Im just hoping this isn't because they think Kirk will be out a while

Maybe Ross is loading up on fringe catching prospects to package them together to Pittsburgh for Danny Santana

I was looking up possible weak side platoon bats and alex call popped up, the guy the dodgers just traded for. Or i think that's him.

He could be backfilling AAA since Ali Sanchez is up here...That would be weird though.

They also need a 40 man spot for Beiber when he's ready but if this move was for that... it's too early, so it probably isn't about that.

Atkins has something else cooking for sure.

Better add another good bullpen arm  like Santana. Or maybe gambling and get Emanuel Clase, even if he's not allowed play before September.

I think the point of this was to free up Wagner's 40man spot for this year, while adding a potential back up catcher prospect for the near future. Valenzuela can be added to the 40man next year and replace Ali Sanchez as the third catcher on the depth chart

Idk they could activate Bieber immediately, he has 60 pitches built up already so he could start a game and pitch 4-5 innings
