glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2025 Posted July 5, 2025 Jays developing relievers like crazy this season. Love to see it.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2025 Posted July 5, 2025 Gausman, Berrios, Bassitt next against the Angels and ChiSox….we need some 7 inning gems out of these guys
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2025 Posted July 5, 2025 This team is amazing right now. Fisher is a goddamn boss and deserves full marks for the victory in this game. The bullpen was absolutely superb with only a single run allowed in 7 innings. Springer continued bashing home runs, Barger drove in the winning run and threw out a runner at the plate. I'm actually kind of warming to the bunts as both Clement and Lukes placed down perfect bunts the last few games to help set up the winning run. Terminator 1

Doubleplay21 Verified Member Posted July 5, 2025 Posted July 5, 2025 Estrada another good arm. Throws strikes and is around the plate. Cannot trust Little anymore in close games because he strikes out 2 and walks 2 and throws too many pitches in the dirt. Cannot get 3 outs.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2025 Posted July 5, 2025 I know there will be a slump again at some point but this team may actually have the pieces to hold on to the division

Rotation depth at least would be a massive plus with a starter being capable of starting a playoff game being a huge addition to the team's playoff potential.

I don't want to settle when it comes to a starting pitcher. We don't have many valuable assets to trade. I want a true blue ace or just hold on to our assets, take what we got plus Manoah and do what we can, maybe try again in the off-season. There's no point just adding another solid arm because we have plenty of solid arms as it is. Jays24 1

The farm system is positively stacked with high potential arms right now so I think the front office has plenty of trade ammunition. If you don't think the team has many assets to trade then it stands to reason that they aren't going to be able to trade for an ace level pitcher.

That's all I'm saying, I don't want to settle for a secondary fish and waste some of those assets. Go big or go with what you got. Because, again, we have good arms we need something more along the lines of great. Jays24 1
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2025 Posted July 5, 2025 New York Yankees fans actively chasing Anthony Volpe out of town. And after he apparently hit Judge in the face during warm up might be over for him. Yankees in absolute shambles. Terminator 1

Agree plus just listen to the on field interviews, what a bit of confidence does for a professional athlete. Hopefully they haven't peaked too early (if there's such a thing). Now Atkins needs to get a #2/#3 starter - preferably #1 but that won't be easy, and now with Yimi going down again we will definitely need a late inning reliever
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2025 Posted July 5, 2025 Hoff/Green/Fischer.....need to add a flame thrower

That's not on Volpe.

If the Angels fall out of the race I'd really like to see the team take a run at reacquiring Kikuchi. He's firmly not in the ace tier but I believe he would likely slot in as the team's number 1 starter. Stangstag and Spanky__99 2

The starters have been decent, but far from great. Especially Gausman. Vlad has been OK but he could easily go on a tear the way he does sometimes. Santander is -0.9 fWAR and injured. He could come back a start smashing bombs. Varsho hasn't even factored in yet. Plus, the TDL will see some additions without a doubt.

I think you're getting as much as you can reasonably expect to get out of the starters at this point including Gausman. I'm writing off this season for Santander. Doesn't sound like he's close, he'd be basically starting from scratch when he does come back. I'll expect nothing and be happy if we get anything. Gimenez is more important to me. Wouldn't even surprise me if there's an issue there that may require surgery because it's taking a long time to heal. Varsho will add some value.

That's because they're not swinging as much as they used to, it was only a matter of time before the league started to figure him out. He needs to adjust. Bouncing the ball 5 ft in front of home plate is not going to work anymore.

If he gets back to placing his pitches closer to the strike zone he'll generate more swings. Stangstag 1

Schneider has to take it easy on him. He may just be overused. Brownie is right, Little is a valuable piece. Brownie19 1
