I can only assume they don't want him to play in a situation where a night game is immediately followed by a day game. Perhaps he'll still be available later in the game as a pinch hitter/defensive replacement if the situation warrants it.

It's basically 100% guaranteed that he's being kept out for injury recovery management. Last thing we want to do is overwork him coming back from a pretty major injury and having it flare up here and there throughout the season.

If he's being kept out against middling RHP there's basically no reason other than injury management.
