Some good playoff games going on if you want to watch something competitive.

Pistons/Knicks has been amazing.  Love when the physicality ramps up.

lol. They been doing it for a few years now. Why is anyone surprised? They haven’t made drastic changes by adding really good hitters to this team. They are what we thought they were.

Hunter Brown > Framber Valdez

...unfortunately for us.

I love hearing that hitters are close. They have been close for three years. Oh I am sure it’s coming.

The approach is horrible. I'll say this again, this all started when Mattingly came aboard.

How about losing Semien, Teo, Chapman, Gurriel and failing to replace them with good enough offensive players?  This is clearly a roster issue.

crazy, I remember when he first came up - din't think he would be anything special.  Now he's blowing hitters away

I disagree. Donnie's philosophy as "Offensive Coordinator" ( stupid title) is to not pull the ball.

That's a cop out.  No one knows wtf the hitting coaches are telling each of their players and whether the players are even listening to it.

It falls on the players themselves and this front office went with defensive first players at the cost of offensive production.

You wouldn't be the only one who flip flopped on Hunter Brown lol.

I got 3 responses saying that 🤣. The news hasn't been announced at the time that I made the post.

It wasn't announced when I made that post either.  I was just suggesting that would be the right move - and bam - Jays announced it like an hour later.

Pretty much outside of Bo, Vladdy, Santander and Springer, the rest of the lineup is filled with #8-9 hitters, which isn't good enough.

Unfortunately, Bo, Vladdy and Taters are off to slow starts power wise, but they should pick up. Though still, this lineup is pretty weak.

Can’t hit. Let’s keep em all together for years and years. Joke.

Exactly... even at our best, this is an average offensive team.  No hitting coach is going to turn a bunch of number 8/9 hitters into middle of the order bats.

I think we'll be lucky if Taters ever posts a wRC+ > 115 in any of his 5 seasons in Toronto.  I don't think he's very good.  I'm happy we didn't pay a lot for him, but I don't think he can be the 3rd best hitter on a winning team.

This clown used to post on here in '22 complaining about the Jays only having HR hitters and no defense... and now, here we are.

No need to panic guys. The offense will get it going.

This is the run of starters we've faced the past six games.

  1. Schwellenbach
  2. Strider
  3. Woo
  4. Gilbert
  5. Castillo
  6. Brown

We won't run into a gauntlet like that again until we easily make the playoffs. Most of those guys have been dominating everyone they face.

That's not to say that the offense has been good enough so far. It hasn't, especially in the power department. But things have been going better than the Chicken Littles have been shrieking about. And it's hard to gauge when you face a run of starters like that.

Starting tomorrow we see a drop in quality of the SPs we face so hopefully the runs follow.

Brown looked amazing tonight like a true ace but yeah when you lack power it’s going to be impossible to string hits together. 2015 royals was 10 years ago now, a team like that isn’t going to succeed with pitchers being this good now.

3) Santander

4) Springer

5)

6)

7) Varsho

8) Kirk

9) Gimenez

At the end of the day, the team needs an upgrade over Clement/Wagner at 3B and an upgrade over Roden in LF moving forward.

Going into the season with Wagner and Roden as starters is looking like a mistake. Ideal situation would have been having them start in Buffalo and be the first guys called up in case of an injury.

Nope you’re wrong there. Where is your proof? You have none because that’s not true. Go ahead and fabricate things Spanky. Seems about right.

Perhaps but they had to give them a look.  Not like there are lot of options.  The org was high on Roden all spring.

Ideally, Santander should be hitting 5th or 6th on a winning team, but we'll have to make do with him hitting 3rd haha.

Like you said, contract wise, Santander at least isn't crippling. Just got to hope he can average 30 HR's, and 2-3 WAR seasons with around a 115-120 wRC+ during his time here.

Yeah they had no choice obviously. Shows you how much was needed to improve this lineup from last season. Still a lot of work to be done.

I just don’t want Shatkins or Shapiro anywhere near this team to work on it. 10 years is 10 years already too long.

Well there was also that curly long haired dude who should have 6 plus ERA tattooed on his forehead.. He shut the boys down also..
