glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2025 Posted January 23, 2025 Man with that contract structure, I could actually see Tony opting out. Great move by Ross. Either Santander really wanted to be a Jay, or he had no other suitors. max silver and Spanky99 2

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2025 Posted January 23, 2025 People really thought Ross initially offered a straight 4/82, got rejected and had to compromise like a beta to up the ante. We didn't even know what he had in stock for us. Spanky99 1
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2025 Posted January 23, 2025 This is a really impressive deal from the worst GM in team history, who has ruined the franchise and made the Jays the laughing stock of baseball 🥱 Eat My Shatkins, max silver, Spanky99 and 2 others 1 4

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2025 Posted January 23, 2025 It’s a really good signing But some of you are acting like this is the second coming of the Josh Donaldson trade This is a 2.5 WAR corner outfielder/DH jaysblue 1

I think that guy must have failed kindergarten or something as he doesn't seem to be able to coexist with other people very well. On a semi related note I think kindergarten was the very best times of my educational experience as we got to have a nap each day immediately followed by toy playing time. That was living the good life, and my retirement will likely follow suit with daily naps and video games. Eat My Shatkins 1

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2025 Posted January 23, 2025 Great deal but this team is still an impact bat and starter away from being serious. That means the team would have a 300M payroll so if you want to to give credit to someone to field a competitive squad with that level of payroll and a crappy farm system then more power to you. I'd probably give my credit to Rogers for stepping up and spending that much in this scenario. Perfect Game and jaysblue 2

Vancouverite Verified Member Posted January 23, 2025 Posted January 23, 2025 my bold prediction for this season is that Varsho figures it out and becomes a 230/300/500 bat and he'll start mashing 30-40 HR a years. he was really really close to this in 2022. So he'll be Santander offensively but, with a Gold Glove. To the posters on here that understand advanced analytics much better than I do. i'd love to hear some feedback if any analytics support my prediction, or if i'm way out to lunch?

I just can’t see it. Varsho is a streaky player, its who he is. Some months he’ll look like a top 5 CF and some he’ll look like he’s never hit above AAA before. He’s basically lefty Grichuk with a better glove and worse bat.

Not sure what part of what I said is complaining, I'd be happy as hell if we landed Alonso and have said many times i LOVED the Santandar deal. Pointing out who I'd prefer to give the credit to isn't complaining...

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2025 Posted January 24, 2025 Hopefully Santander doesn't become like Kendrys Morales haha. Look, I think the Anthony Santander signing was very solid and happy the Jays went out and got a 30-40 HR masher which is what this lineup badly needed. At the same time, I'm not all of a sudden anointing Atkins as a king just for making this signing.
