People really thought Ross initially offered a straight 4/82, got rejected and had to compromise like a beta to up the ante. We didn't even know what he had in stock for us.

Not only was it the worst GM in team history, it was also the worst GM in baseball, and even the worst GM in the history of Toronto sports. Yeah he legit freaked out on Brownie for simply using the thumbs down button for his posts. I think that guy must have failed kindergarten or something as he doesn't seem to be able to coexist with other people very well. On a semi related note I think kindergarten was the very best times of my educational experience as we got to have a nap each day immediately followed by toy playing time. That was living the good life, and my retirement will likely follow suit with daily naps and video games.

They added a switch hitting 30+ home run corner bar for a similar AAV to Lourdes Gurriel Jr. It's a great deal that adds much needed thump to the lineup and has a clever structure that limits the potential downsides to a massive degree.

Great deal but this team is still an impact bat and starter away from being serious.  That means the team would have a 300M payroll so if you want to to give credit to someone to field a competitive squad with that level of payroll and a crappy farm system then more power to you.  I'd probably give my credit to Rogers for stepping up and spending that much in this scenario.

he was really really close to this in 2022.

So he'll be Santander offensively but, with a Gold Glove.

I just can’t see it. Varsho is a streaky player, its who he is. Some months he’ll look like a top 5 CF and some he’ll look like he’s never hit above AAA before.

He’s basically lefty Grichuk with a better glove and worse bat.

He could repeat '22 possibly, but I don't see him ever gaining that type of ISO.

I was just responding to the back and forth above me.  Not sure what part of what I said is complaining, I'd be happy as hell if we landed Alonso and have said many times i LOVED the Santandar deal.  Pointing out who I'd prefer to give the credit to isn't complaining...

Look, I think the Anthony Santander signing was very solid and happy the Jays went out and got a 30-40 HR masher which is what this lineup badly needed. At the same time, I'm not all of a sudden anointing Atkins as a king just for making this signing.
