The Marlins got 10 players trading Realmuto, Yelich and Stanton and Stanton was traded in the offseason after winning the MVP.  None of those players amounted to anything and none of those players are currently in the Miami Marlins organization.  A cautionary tale.

Stanton no comparison to Vlad

So have all the top IFA signed? I am trying to find a list of players that are left but can't find any.  Someone please tell me we didn't take on Myles f***ing Straw for IFA money we can't even use. If it wasn't so funny, it'd be sad.

If the Jays extend Vlad (75% chance, IMO), sign Santander and Alonso, does this team have the talent to do something in 2025?

Yes.

It would be the most magical abomination/combination of Terrible D/big bats and elite D/pool noodles ever assembled.

Most of them have already signed. +/- 9 players were already expected to sign with the Blue Jays prior to the Sasaki saga and I don't believe they signed elsewhere.

Closer to the top of the list, it looks like Manny Cedeno was expected to sign with the Yankees but it doesn't seem like he signed as of now. There is also Ayden Johnson that doesn't appear to have signed a contract yet. You dig down the list pretty fast when trying to find unsigned prospects and it's time consuming. I doubt the Jays find a way to spend all their money unless they spend above projections on the players that already had agreements with them.

Based on MLB.com's top 50 list that is updated to reflect who has signed and with which teams, the only names that don't have teams next to them:

11. Manny Cedeno, SS, D.R.
12. Ayden Johnson, SS, Bah.
21. Jhoan De La Cruz, SS, D.R.
22. Cristopher Polanco, SS, D.R. (connected to Jays prior to the Roki BS)
26. Carlos Taveras, OF, D.R.
35. Deivid Coronil, SS, Ven.
39. Carlos Alvarez, LHP, D.R.

I don't know if any of the other names other than Polanco are also Jays guys, It's hard enough to know which HS and college players are worth drafting, so 16-17 year old international talent is even more of a crapshoot. Just sign as many as possible with the extra $2M and pray one of them works out.

Both have either signed or are just about signed by the Padres. The others on your list seem to be still available. They could have agreements we are not aware off though.

The next Blue jays after Polanco who had an agreement with the Blue Jays is Juan Sanchez who is right inside or right outside the top 50 depending on the rankings.

Might have to tune out for a week or two and only pay attention to actual trades and signings that happen instead of the rumours

So sick of rumours. (Apologies to Lizzo)

Would be hilarious if we ended up with Santandar/Alonso/Flaherty after all the Shatkins/Rogers slander.

Slander implies false statements were made.  None of it was slander.  All of it was/is deserved.

So I have heard what may end up as interesting news. My friend who used to work for the Jays before taking an opportunity elsewhere has heard that Rogers is thinking about making the Jays, Leafs and Raptors and the rest of MLSE a new company for less shareholder involvement so Ed Rogers can use the money how he wants and the man to run it all would be one Mark Shapiro. This would mean the Jays have a new president and GM in the near future though Rogers apparently likes Atkins so who knows maybe a promotion and a promotion for Click.

So Shapiro taking Keith Pelly's current role?  How can I suck at my job and still get promoted like this man lol.

Yeah the thing that doesn't make sense about this is, why would Keith Pelley already be on the outs as CEO? He seems to have a very good relationship with Rogers.

The dodgers have mostly below average defenders and elite pitching to prevent runs.  Muncy, betts at short, Conforto and Hernandez in the outfield are all below average. Smith despite being great at throwing out base stealers is the worst framer and blocker of balls in the league and a below average catcher defensively.  Edman is a good defender, but in center field he's only average.  Freeman is the total package, but he's a year older now and his defensive skills are on the decline, but he's still a great defender.  The best management group in baseball chooses offense over defense. Just pair that offense with elite pitching.

They also just signed the best closer on the market

That is an insane rumor.  Makes zero sense, but I don't hate it.  Guy is a HOFer.

I was gonna post this rumour but I'm honestly tired from it all.  The Sasaki thing was such a blow to the Fandom lol.

We'd actually be a pretty good fit for Scherzer. The dome means better pitching conditions. Schneider pulls the starters early anyway, so he wouldn't be overtaxed. If the Jays are out of it at the deadline, he'd be pretty much guaranteed to get moved to someone in the thick of the race.

If he's spoken to all the typical playoff teams and nobody is currently interested (or able) to add him, then I could see him taking this route.  Playoff teams may come looking for him at some point if/when injuries strike.

Who knows a bookie for a custom prop bet?

After the Santander signing I think the Jays might make the playoffs so I want to make a 1000:1 prop bet on this exact thing ---  "Vladimir Guerrero Jr. gets picked off in the second game of the wild card round to end the game, the Blue Jays' season, and his Blue Jays tenure all at once.

Just need a nice bookie to do it for me thanks

Santander had the QO attached to him. Yeah that sucks, but it could give us a leg up on the remaining QO guys because if we sign another one it doesn't really matter as much compared to a team that has yet to sign one.

There's only 3 left. Bregman's deal will be big enough that I don't think teams are going to care about the QO much.

The other two QO guys left are Alonso and Pivetta and the QO will probably play a factor with both of them.

Yeah Bregman doesn't want a short-term pillow deal apparently, so as much as I think he will be an albatross by the end of whatever deal he signs, he still probably makes the most sense if you're going to lose a draft pick for it. Alonso will almost certainly want an opt out after year 1 so you have to weigh that into the equation. I'd probably just overpay Scherzer for a year before I give up a pick for Pivetta.
