I genuinely feel the Blue Jays are a better Baseball team if Santander is not playing the OF. Your point about Lukes and Davis not being able to duplicate their successes from this past Season are valid. But both are projected to out perform Santander this coming Season. And that's without a platoon or ideal matchups. It's something to consider if given the opportunity. Santander is projected for like 1 WAR by Steamer right now. That's really a bat we want to squeeze in the lineup to make our OF defense worse? Was one of the strengths of the team last year. Weren’t you one of the guys that wanted Schwarber? Where exactly was Springer playing after a hypothetical Schwarb signing? Surely you don’t think Springer should be playing the OF daily… Spanky__99 1

Although I would prefer Tucker now because I didn’t think he would be an option. Either way I don’t like the comparison Schwarber is a much much better hitter than Santander. And it’s because he does 2 things at an elite level. Hit Homeruns and get on base. And he does it consistently every year. Santander has had a couple elite homerun hitting Seasons but he does nothing else well. So yes pushing Springer into the OF for him more would have been fine. But Tucker would be ideal.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2025 Author Posted December 11, 2025 The Orioles are casting a wide net to find an impact arm who can slot in the upper half of the rotation. They’ve been tied to Framber Valdez and Ranger Suárez in free agency, as well as trade possibilities like Edward Cabrera, MacKenzie Gore and Freddy Peralta.

If we can get both Bo and Tucker at the expense of dumping Santander and Berrios to the Mets id do it. No questions asked Springer - DH Tucker - LF Vladdy - 1B Bo - 2B Barger - RF Kirk - C Varsho - CF Clement - 3B Gimenez - SS Schneider, Straw, France, Heiny Trade Lukes
bronson44 Verified Member Posted December 11, 2025 Posted December 11, 2025 I kinda like the deal for Baltimore. I know we laugh at the vetrin presents thing but it is probably good to add a leader to that young group and take some pressure off. They will add to the rotation. I would go after King if I were them. They have Helsley closing and probably can add another tier 2 reliever. This division is going to be a battle next year once the dust settles. Spanky__99 1
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted December 11, 2025 Posted December 11, 2025 It wasn't that long Jonn wanted to punt Varsho into the sun too. Hopefully Taters has a bounce back season in 2026. He's probably slated to be the main DH by 2027 so could still be useful down the road. Jays still haven't signed Bo or Tucker either, so a healthy Tony Taters could be a very needed bat in 2026. max silver, Spanky__99 and Stangstag 2 1

And the thing about Varsho he adds value in multiple areas of the game. Yes he’s frustrating at the plate. But often makes it up with his glove. Anthony Santander is as one dimensional as they come. Please stop glazing a 1 WAR player or ever compare him to a player that put up 3 WAR in his sleep.

Where does he play if RF and DH is occupied. Do they put him in LF or would they rather play Lukes and Scheneider. It’s just something to think about. He would be an expensive bench bat.

Yes I'd rather have Bo at a fraction of what they're projected to go for, than sign Suarez in my perfectly realistic world. I'm not going to cry if we signed Tucker hopefully it's in the 250 to 300M range. They'd likely have to wait till the deadline for a shutdown guy if that happens. This guy from ESPN Chicago Jesse Rogers believes Tucker signs here for 250 to 300M depending on term and that he gets 30M AAV. I'm down for something like that. 8:10 p.m. ET — Tucker predicted to end up in Toronto Chicago-based ESPN insider Jesse Rogers was candid about where he thinks Kyle Tucker will end up during an appearance on ESPN 1000's "Waddle and Silvy." I dunno dude, I seem to remember you saying you wanted Varsho catapulted into the sun. Doesn't seem like you'd get much of a return on that lol. Anyways, my point is sometimes we need to be patient. If they land Tucker and/or bring back Bo that changes things, but as it stands right now I'd rather see if the guy bounces back. No sense paying to get rid of him at the lowest value hes had in probably his whole career. Stangstag, Spanky__99 and max silver 3

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2025 Posted December 11, 2025 I'm not that crazy about Alonso's contract and term for the Orioles. Could end up being really bad from years 3/4-5. In the short term however, he gives them a legit middle-of-the-order power bat who likely will thrive in that ballpark and in that lineup. Also, Orioles needed to make a big move so from a PR and optics perspective if they want to convince other MLB free agents, especially some of the top starters, to sign in Baltimore. Orioles need to compliment this signing however by either signing a top rotation arm or trading for one. If they don't address their pitching, this move likely won't move the needle much in the big picture. All they'll have is a very scary lineup. Stangstag 1

How good is this park for a right handed hitter now? I think the dimensions are somewhere between the original and the freak show dimensions https://www.mlb.com/news/effect-of-camden-yards-new-dimensions-for-2025. If Mike Elias is a moron I guess the freak show camden thing might be evidence (for the record I thought he was the greatest GM of all time and about to launch the greatest franchise of the 21st century, 2025 wasn't great evidence for that theory but who knows what the future years will bring). Anyway freak show Camden. Seemed like it was designed to stop Vlad and Judge and Bo and Stanton. I always thought there would have to be a 5-3 game where Vlad (or Bo or Judge) hit a 415 foot, 115 mph missile to left centre that was caught and the Orioles celebrate, don't remember that game happening to the Jays but maybe it did happen to the Yankees once, I recall watching the now defunct Michael Kay show, and Kay complaining about something that happened to a Judge 117 mph 420 foot flyball in Camden. So anyway obviously the Orioles couldn't quite make an all left handed line up (Jackson Holiday, greatest prospect ever, so far is questionable as to that status, just like his GM is to his 'greatest' status, Cedric Mullins, all star center fielder now journey man, some of their other left handed hitters not panning out, so had to bring in the wall and sign big old slugging first basemen for 150 million.
