Crazy stuff. The obvious risks are command and injuries.

He is lanky and awkward, lol. Rolled his ankle and had to leave the game - looked like a doofus doing it!

Obvious Ace Ace upside though, I am jealous

Holy absolutely f*** that is filth

Fastball is on super serum, but the kid also has a 96mph slider....and a 92 mph changeup.  Does the elbow hold up?

Nah, that's surgery coming eventually, if he can hone in his control he's deGrom lite.

I guess it's not really possible for him to go throw rehab games in the minors to work his way back.  This certainly isn't the traditional way of doing it and took some out of the box ideas.  It will be fascinating to watch this play out.

yea exactly and their schedule is littered with tbd's for starters and he's been throwing on the side so I guess they made the call might as well get him in a game.  Reports are he asked to start.  He's coming off TJ #2 though so I'm sure they will be cautious.

Man, the Rays are going to host playoff games at a minor league park, aren't they? Not what MLB wants, but a half empty Trop during playoff time is probably the more embarrassing option.

At least the stadium should be full!

Yeah a sold out minor league park will likely be a better atmosphere, which is sad. Seeing empty seats at the Trop for playoff games was embarrassing. One of the only scenarios where playing in a minor league facility might actually help the aesthetic value of a playoff series.

lol. Apparently they might be moving to Orlando in the next few years. Can't see how MLB would make it work there; the Orlando investors are banking on "tourism" to help sustain the franchise.

They must be banking on Disney related packages then because no one else is going to that s*** hole in the middle of summer lol.

You love to see it. I don't know what's more embarrassing, the 3 straight shutouts (2 of them at home btw) or that Hunter Strickland finished out two of those.

What a bizarre stat line he has on the season (14.2 IP)

4.30 K/9

3.07 BB/9

4.91 xFIP

0.00 ERA

I honestly didn't know he was still in the league.
