Just in case anyone has concerns about Gimenez's contract, keep in mind that Max Fried is also a 3 WAR player.

He just signed for 8 years, 218 million for his age 31-38 seasons.

Gimenez is entering his age 26 season and has averaged 4.6 FWAR for the last 3 seasons.

I have concerns about our roster construction, but I think this trade is a real steal if we didn't give up anything major.

They are somewhat similar but Gimenez's Steamer600 is 3.0 and Caballero's is just 1.9.

Gimenez is Varsho levels good defensively.

I just hate the idea of paying sticker price for defense. I feel like good teams find those kinds of players for cheap. 15.2M is a big chunk of the available budget, and I'm not sure 2B defense should have been the priority. Maybe I'm misreading the market on someone like Josh Rojas, but I'm guessing he doesn't get more than IKF last year, costs nothing via trade, and probably puts up 2+ WAR if you run him out there every day.

This dude has a very strong arm for a second baseman and elite speed on the bases. I would be really surpised if he's not at least an above average defender at short stop and a longer term Bo replacement.

Could play 3B this year and Bo replacement next year.

It's the 83 wRC+ he put last year that scares me

Yeah I hear ya but he also could bounce back with the stick. We'll see what they gave up. Hopefully it's a Cleveland salary dump.

Aww man I was really hoping it would be one of the others. Horwitz felt like the most stable bat out of the young guys we had.

Cleveland is absolutely going to grind some 2-3 WAR seasons out of him between 1B/2B.

Disappointing, but makes sense, given that we had no position for him. Hopefully that's about all we gave up.

Yeah this just trading offense away from an offensively starved team to add defence to a squad that already won a team gold glove. Maybe this means a big bat 1B/DH type is being acquired in free agency that would make Horwitz largely redundant (Joc Pederson for example).

We need to know how bad the damage is before we can rationalize this trade. Assuming this will just be a straight salary dump for the Indians who hate paying players. Finally paid someone and he turned into an absolute pumpkin offensively. Will see what prospects they stole from an already weak system.

Am I reading his contract details correctly? 10-15-23-23-23, and then a $2.5m buyout. That contract is horrendous for the type of player he is, unless they can unlock some offensive potential in him. Only makes sense if he's the next SS on this team, otherwise paying this much for a defense-first 2B is awful.

It does kind of suck given we're looking for hitting and now do have to compensate for losing our second best hitter last year. Wagner or Barger I would have been more comfortable with but I feel like the FO really likes Barger.

Rojas was still arb eligible when non tendered and only projected for 4M

Nick Sandlin is a Guardian. Kenny should watch baseball.

If its only Horowitz that not bad. He didn't really have a spot on the roster since he couldn't play 2B even though the LHB was nice. Sandlin is fine at the back of the pen.

This does reinforce the need to add a big bat or 2 in the OF however.

Expecting another piece but looks like Indians just want out of that contract and I can’t blame them.

Spencer Horowitz is actually way less than I thought we would give up, and we get a decent reliever in Nick Sandlin out of it. Will Wagner can now get full time AB as the Horwitz replacement.

Perfectly happy with this trade.

Is the trade complete? How do you know Wagner isn't going also?
