5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 The big guy is still young in his career and has a lot of upside. We all saw what he can do in 2021. Vladdy's quietly been on a tear and has nearly carried the team on his back and back to the 500 mark. Jays haven't had a franchise player in ages, just a revolving door of changing faces with no identity. It would be nice if we had a stalwart of the franchise for a change and I think Vladdy is that guy!
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 I've always wanted him extended and still do Just not for Tatis money
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 Buy low and pray I mean, why not? Unless he can be traded for a haul, what else is there to look forward to? Realistically Tiedemann is no better then Kyle Harrison and Orelvis is just a 2 war hacker

Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 No, negative. Bad investment. The team probably also needs a cultural change. That means getting rid of Vlad.

It would be nice if we had a stalwart of the franchise for a change and I think Vladdy is that guy! Depends on his price tag and years. Nothing near Tatis or Soto money. I would do a 3 year/$80M extension (similar to Bellinger's deal with the Cubs). Would take Vlad into his 29-year-old season. Vlad has had a solid year to date and also is now playing some 3B. Just needs a couple of more balls to leave the yard.

Realistically Tiedemann is no better then Kyle Harrison and Orelvis is just a 2 war hacker Yeah unless Atkins has an amazing trade deadline, there’s going to be some lean years coming up. Vlad has a 140 wRC+ hitting hard singles all day. There’s a lot of upside that a good org could possibly unlock. I think an extension is a good idea.
sdyment Verified Member Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 Hard pass. I want to see what we can get for Vladdy, Bo, Romano, Yusei, etc… could really jumpstart something.

M.E. Verified Member Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Sign Vlad. Have one potential star and build around. They are not going full rebuild. Can’t see Rogers agreeing to that as they have to make their investment in the stadium back.

Can’t see Rogers agreeing to that as they have to make their investment in the stadium back. Yes and the vote of confidence would only do good things for his performance. Seems like he's been pressing a bit in the past. The guy was hyped to the moon from the very start and his father was the best hitter of the generation so I can understand there being pressure for him as he tries to live up to all of that. I think Vladdy's the guy to build around. Even if he never lives up to superstar potential, at least he's a damn good piece that we could count on being here for the long haul.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 Vlad is like the girlfriend you never want. Like one week you’re ready to throw fists in her honor if anyone disrespects her, but then the next week you catch yourself thinking she’s a replaceable slut. Round and round it goes. And yes, I’m relating with some real world experience here:)
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted June 19, 2024 Author Posted June 19, 2024 Haha i can understand the frustration. But I think it would be good for the franchise to extend one of either Bo or Vladdy and every time I end up getting sold on Bo, he turns into a pumpkin again. The guy's one of the streakiest players I can remember. He's frustrating to watch but always somehow ends the year with great numbers.
BCZ Verified Member Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 Why would I want a guy that has the intelligence of a mule? Hasn't fixed his GB issue after 6 years in the majors......... He's a much better fish to put on the market. Let some other team take the dum dum.

bluejaysinternNo5 Verified Member Posted June 20, 2024 Posted June 20, 2024 No thanks. One BABIP fuelled month does not warrant an extension for a 1-3 WAR 1B.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2024 Posted June 20, 2024 Vlad has seen 374 4-seam fastballs this year and he has ZERO extra base hits against them

BTS Community Moderator Posted June 20, 2024 Posted June 20, 2024 Vlad has seen 374 4-seam fastballs this year and he has ZERO extra base hits against them That is unbelievable
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2024 Posted June 20, 2024 Hitting .288 against them with over 63% hard hit percentage on them (!) so overall he's still above water against 4-seamers. But the 4 degree LA is killing his chances at extra base hits off of them. It's nuts.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 20, 2024 Posted June 20, 2024 Also has no homers against sinkers this year 271 sinkers and 374 four seamers... no homers he is completely f***ing broken
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2024 Posted June 20, 2024 I will conceded Vlad is probably worth an additional $2 mill AAV after his new haircut.
Victor Arias New Hampshire Fisher Cats - AA CF On Sunday, the 22-year-old went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and 4 RBI. It was his first home run since June 27. Explore Victor Arias News >
