Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Haha damn... I was actually saddened by the news because I truly wanted the guy to succeed. There was just too much suckage at the plate for it to work.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Thought for sure it would be Vogelbach. Pleasantly surprised they finally pulled the plug on Biggio.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Cavan was a decent bench player and did what was asked, thought Vogelbach was the one on the outs, like where is Votto?

Great day for the Biggio hating fan club, but he has been a lot better this year for the Jays than Clement. Carrying 2 first basemen and 2 DHs isn't ideal roster construction unless they are committed to Vlad playing 3rd base now.
M.E. Verified Member Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Horowitz needed to take someone’s spot that got ABs as he needs to play. Ok with this. Vog is fine as 26 as he doesn’t need to play as much as others.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Yeah The roster is a mess They need to figure this out by the trade deadline if they're still within spitting distance

There was just too much suckage at the plate for it to work. I believed in him for a long time but at the end of the day, he just never took that next step. With another organization there's still a chance he'll figure something out, he's got to learn how to be aggressive in the strike zone. He can't just stand there and take strikes he should be doing damage on. That's not a thing that works long term.

Has been better doesn't mean is better Clement is clearly more talented than Biggio
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 1480 AB's and finally..........catharsis.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 Sucks he never worked out. He was given plenty of time to show he belonged but never was good enough
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 I would have turfed Vogelbach, as much as Biggio is a let down with the bat, his defensive utility and speed make him a far better option for a bench role. Horwitz is maybe a league average bat, with below average everything else. All they did was get slower and less versatile defensively with another 1b/DH. I don't care where they've been trying him at AAA, he's not a 2b. 131 PA for Biggio, still put up .5 fWAR. Total 1761 PA, 6.5 fWAR. He's not a nothing burger, but hes sure not what you thinkmof as a league aevrage regular either. As much as I dislike watching him hit, this team will miss his skillet if Horwitz hasnt taken a very big leap in the game power department
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 Biggio is going to land somewhere. Then a new story arc will emerge: The revenge of Craig Biggio's son. Wait for it. Biggio still had options left on his contract but was a player with five years of service time in the majors. Therefore, he would've had to consent to an option, which he presumably did not, per Sportsnet's Shi Davidi. "Tough conversation obviously with Cavan," Blue Jays manager John Schneider said on Friday. "For a guy that we've all known, myself included, for a long time. Hoping that he gets a chance to land on his feet and play more."

Tampa is another team that would jump at a high floor guy

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 Biggio to the Astros. I was going to say, doubt he makes it through the AL.
