Varsho has 150 PAs. His chase and BB rates percentiles way better than '23. Sitting on a 113 wRC+ and on pace for 28 HRs.

27% better than last yr. Big time valuable player if he can maintain the approach and outcomes.

Really could have used this last year

Another positive and kind of hilarious thing that is happening to the 2024 Blue Jays is that Vlad is challenging for second place in Blue Jays WAR with a unique season.

He is now on track for 3 WAR hitting .270 .370 .370 with 14 homers.

I hope he heats up average wise, his defense rocks, he walks alot and his power continues to be absence and he ends up something like .295 .390 .380, with true gold glove deserving 1st base defense, 9 homeruns, and 4.5 WAR.

What the hell do they do with him then? Nobody will know what to do. His agent won't know what to do. The Jays won't know what to do. The arbitrator won't know what to do. The stupid gold glove voters won't know what to do (probably give the gold glove to some ******* with worse defense but more homers).

Olerud, please take your meds, mate. Every damn thread, man???

Jays lost first two games of this series, so they gotta win today and avoid the sweep at home. Tough for a team to get swept at home.

Alek Manoah has back to back starts of seven innings. Rather large development
Posted

Things could be on the upswing. Bear with me folks. This is the positivity thread after all.

ROTATION:

If Manoah is back this could be a game changer. Bassitt and Gausman have had their struggles but they seem really close to getting it locked in. We aren't far from having a dominant 1-5 which would allow us to stack up some wins to get back into this.

BULLPEN:

Green coming back could be big. Would give us a 7th-8th-9th of Green-Yimi-Romano. Richards can mix in as needed and Swanson can move to a low leverage role indefinitely. Then with Yariel and Francis close to back that would allow us to shore up the long relief situation too.

LINEUP:

Not even sure what to say here. Atkins saying he can't pinpoint what is wrong is concerning. But when you're this bad there's only one way to go and that's up so they will surely hit better than they have to date.

SCHEDULE:

The schedule from now until essentially the ASB really lightens up. Most of the tough series are at home and the hardest road trips are against teams like the Guardians. We need to start winning games and these AL Central teams coming up are a good start.

Manoah could be a game changer if he stays consistent. The only issue being, since we don't score more than four runs per game we will need a quality start basically every game. Lot of pressure to put on our rotation. It may not be probable but it's possible. Scratch that, we don't want another probability debate.

I could see us passing the Rays and finishing third in the division; however will we have a better record than the Guardians, Royals, Astros, Rangers, Mariners and Twins? Doubtful.

If only the 1st baseman could do what 1st baseman’s typically do: hit for power.Alas ours has trouble getting the ball of the ground.

How about this organizations development team being able to fix Manoah! Incredible stuff.

Only 3.5 games out of a playoff spot with 115 to go!

the playoffs will be easy to make

No-brainer. 100% its a lock now. We goin' to the World Series!! Back to 23% now thanks to CWS who are great for my optimism.

Playing at an incredible .750 win percentage over their last 4 games and .600 over their last 5. No way it's not at an .800 pace after today. I believe

Happy the HR jackets back.

9 runs a game so far since the return. Coincidence? I think not.

Well well well....just as I predicted the schedule eases up and we start off 3-1

Manoah is back, the bats are on fire and we are back in business boys

Biggio is finally, mercifully, a pure bench player

For now….

Injury to DS/IKF/Springer and he’s probably a regular again… and we tear our hair out complaining about him getting at bats over Horwitz/Barger/Clement/etc

I think Ernie would get most of that playing time. Can’t do much when injuries hit

My bad I’m just fired up that the offense is back

Can’t wait for Manoah to dominate the Tigers tomorrow

I hope he’s s*** talking the entire time

All of Alex's haters just can't stand when he's mentally dominating the opposition. All the more reason to hope it happens.
