Seems like a pretty fair deal.

The one thing that makes this better from the Yanks perspective is that Bellinger and his soft exit velo could get a nice boost from the Yanks' little league right field fence.

I wouldn't have minded picking up Bellinger's contract given some of the options out there, but didn't he have a no-trade clause? Maybe I'm remembering wrong.

I don't see anything about that here - https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/player/_/id/21735/cody-bellinger

But he does have a player opt-out after 2025, with a $5M buyout. Looks like the Cubs are covering the buyout and the Yanks may just get him for 1 year $27M if he rebounds...

He is only projected for 2.5 WAR for 150 games. Alan Roden is projected for 2 WAR for 150 games.

How reliable and how biased are those projections ? Projection could be unreliable but not biased (meaning could be off 2 WAR but Roden is 0-4 and Teoscar 0.5 to 4.5) ?

Or could be more reliable to Teoscar (2-3) but less reliable for Roden (0-4). If that is the case Roden actually has a higher ceiling.

Or the projection could be positive bias for minor league players (meaning Roden projection is too high). I think a lot of posters would assume the projection is too high for Roden... but... if BJMB poster know that why don't the projection people?

Need to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the projection systems for major and minor league players to talk sensibly about Teoscar contract in view of the other options like Roden.

Feels like Steamer is much more high on minor leaguers than other projection systems which haven't come out yet.

People seem to be complaining about giving up Horowitz because of his projection but no one would be complaining if the Jays game up Davis Schneider, yet rewind a year ago and Schneider was basically this year's Horowitz.

Thats why I feel like scouting still is really important, because these tweener type of players often have their weaknesses exploited once they have some film on them. Rowdy coming off of 2020 feels like another similar situation to above.

Oh man why would a dude that should be spoiled for choice take on some other MLBers sloppy seconds?

These are the sloppy seconds in question:

How do you figure? His highest innings total since 2019 is 78.

Because I have had him in Fantasy in a 30 Team league for 3 years and know what he is, has done and is capable of when not injured.

Bellinger's wife is Stanton's ex. Smells like trouble.

Can't wait to spread a bunch of salacious rumors this season on twitter every time Stanton or Bellinger is in a slump. We have to try and ruin the clubhouse culture the best we can.

You know Stanton's going to be on the IL for a LONG time again too. That's a recipe for an affair!

Haha, I had no doubt she was hot as hell, but I said a guy spoiled for choice which he should be.

Every time he leaves his house women hotter than that are probably tossing their panties at him (proverbially), women that haven't a potential coworker inside them at some point.

Fine for some fun, but not an LTR.

Lmao this is an insane take, there is a zero percent chance you would reject a girl like this because she once dated someone that worked in your industry

Heyman says the Jays were also interested in Bellinger, and having another interested party helped the Cubs in negotiations.

LOL it's a broken record at this point. Let's hope Shatkins got something up their sleeves or they'll be banned from Canada just like our soon be ex PM lol.

Probably the most nerdiest take he's ever made and that's saying something. Even has the personality to support his love for Atkins loll

Glad we keep helping other teams/players/agents out yet without actually acquiring anyone impactful ourselves! Feels great!!!

That's crazy to think that a player shouldn't date a woman because she used to date one of the 1000+ MLB players.

That's still a better outcome than the Jays actually trading for Bellinger.

Of course we did. But really - any other team that's interested in a free agent or a player on the trading block inevitably helps someone else get the "deal they want". That's how negotiations work these days.

Then again, maybe Ross wanted the Yanks to get Belly, so they were out of the running for Teo.

Shatkins are causing the entire MLB to spend 2% more so they can strike in 2050 when every team goes bankrupt. Genius!!! Lol

You think there are just hundreds of women hotter than this SI model throwing themselves at him?

Also please don’t talk about women like this in the future. It’s very derogatory language to reference men “being inside” of them as if they’re objects.
