Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 Typical one word posts from you as always lol. You're the best at it! Nah, I don't want to bother wasting my time arguing with a poster who believes everything is a mystery or an enigma and posters who are shills for Atkins, because I know the argument is going nowhere. Fun to trigger them every once in a while though with factual info and comparisons!
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 MLB messed up. Both teams had an off-day Monday and could have bumped up the series knowing a hurricane was going to hit this week. As well, they could have maybe squeezed in Game 3 on Wednesday with a noon start time if they had to. Sucks for the Mets and Braves to have to play on the Monday but oh well. As well, I know its last minute but couldn't they find a neutral ballpark somewhere on the east coast where both teams could have played let's say yesterday and today? Was it logistically possible to make such changes that fast? Player travel, starting pitcher schedule, etc. Has MLB ever bumped up games pre-emptively? Plus the Mets and Braves would have to agree. I am sure they had a conference call to discuss the options. Helene accelerated into a major hurricane pretty quickly. It was like 3 days ago when the forecast started getting dire. "MLB messed up", are you sure?

Nobody should be making these types of bold claims when they know f*** all about the logistics associated with such a decision.

You made an empty claim and a couple of people called you out on it and asked for receipts. Instead of providing them, you're just going to ignore it and shrug it off like you just wanted to trigger people, while sticking to your claim that what you claimed was fact? That's just sad. Is Trump your idol?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 O's are shutting down Grayson for the year. That hurts. Yordan is done for the rest of the regular season. Wonder if they can get him healthy enough for the playoffs.

Governator Community Moderator Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Help me decide who to root for this postseason... preferably a wild card team I think I've narrowed it down to these but open to thoughts. Orioles I always feel a division rival who wins the WS just shows how strong the division is Orioles haven't won in 40+ years and would rather them over the Yankees any day of the week. Padres/Brewers Have never won a WS Nothing bad to say about them Padres triple play W to clinch against the Dodgers was fire Braves* Assuming they get past the Royals this weekend, the Braves begin their postseason on Monday in a double header with the Mets that'll likely determine who's in or out. If that scenario plays out and if the Braves make it in, it'll be a fun ride and they'd be riding a hot streak to start the postseason. Plus, I still got a soft spot for AA. Teams I won't be rooting for: - Yankees - Dodgers - Royals (still have 2015 nightmares, altho I like Bobby Witt Jr. he just wears the wrong uniform)
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Tigers for me. Brewers in the NL.

Ohtani needs a ring and may as well get it out of the way early on so it won't be a story for the next 10 years.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Brewers. Would be nice to see them win their first. How good would of their pitching staff had been if they didn't trade Burnes before the season and Woodruff didn't need surgery. The Burnes trade is looking good for them though. Ortiz put up 3.2 WAR this season, and is controllable through 2029.

I would never root for a division rival and I would never root for anything attached to New York or Los Angeles. I would root for the Padres except I can't stand some of their players. I'm so bored of the Braves.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 I say f*** the Braves/Dodgers/Yankees/Orioles/Astros For obvious reasons. Phillies winning would be alright, they got oh so close a couple years back. Brewers would be cool. Padres I feel like deserve it. They’re a solid team and they just seem to fall short of expectations each year. Would be nice if they finally won after shedding payroll while staying competitive in what most thought would a a “down year”. Cleveland winning would be nice too, they also came super close a few years back. Tigers/Royals meh, feel like they’re the Dbacks of 2024.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Padres, because Manny has become one of my favourite players

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 Some tidbits to watch for the weekend... https://www.mlb.com/news/what-s-at-stake-final-week-2024-season I'd like to see several scenarios be accomplished, especially Man-Ram's 40-40, and Clase with saves for the first time ever 3 straight years would be cool. Ohtani, Judge, and Arraez would be cool. Or even Vlad having a couple big games for the batting title, he's a hit shy of 200. D-Backs just lost so it's a 3 way tie for the final WC spot. Should be a good watch, especially Monday.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 So just curious, about the Blue Jays/Tigers discussion a couple weeks ago, did some posters end up changing their minds?
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 The grass is always greener syndrome. LOL well looks like it is, since Detroit is making the Postseason.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 Even Riley Greene is maybe not even that special, lol. jesus christ some of you guys will just deepthroat random players on other teams if it makes the Jays somehow look weak in comparison. Or if you own them in fantasy, I guess. Greene has a career 27.2% K rate, is a bad defender, and presently looks like a 3.5 WAR player or so if he can stay healthy. That's not a STAR. That's not a franchise player. That's a second fiddle stick on a good team. Dude is getting out WAR'd by Daulton Varsho presently and for the foreseeable future lmfao. Riley Greene has a 4.2 WAR this season and is only 23. You're hilarious man!
