Sorry. IKF is 90-95% of McMahon. I'll be more accurate next time. Point is almost everyone hated the idea of giving IKF the starting job at 3rd base - both in terms of his ability/performance, the contract term (2 years) and the AAV ($7.5M). Accordingly, I don't see why anyone would want McMahon at a longer term (3 years) and 56% higher AAV. You can quote home runs all you want - but McMahon is awful at the plate. Tony Bautista hit lots of HRs and had lots of RBIs too - that never made him a good hitter.

IKF all of a sudden had a breakout this season. He's never produced at this level prior to 2024.

I think posters were more mad at IKF starting at third base because the FO did very little to improve the lineup this offseason and instead focused on more defensive minded players, which was saw backfire huge. IKF turned out to be a very solid signing (see I give Atkins credit when it's warranted).

McMahon at $11.67M over the next three years is actually very reasonable and he can opt out after 2025 or 2026. If he has a big season, he likely will opt out and could get more money.

What has this lineup struggled with this season? Home runs! Like you don't get it and ignorance is on some other level. They need some pop and if McMahon offers 20-25 HR's along with strong defense, that helps a lot lol. You can't build a one-dimensional lineup/roster that is only defensive oriented.

Why are you rostering this guy in a 12 team redraft? lol... seriously though, he's garbage away from Coors and at 11+M for 3 years, money can be well more spent. Again, hard pass. Weird hill to die on, bro.

IKF has a career wRC+ of 85, McMahon's is 90. This lineup needs to score more runs period (which is what wRC+ calculates) - whether that's with more suicide squeezes or more home runs. IKF and McMahon are both good at defense. McMahon can't turn 2026 into a player option (didn't finish Top 5 in MVP voting in 2022 or 2023) and can only turn 2027 into a player option if he finishes top 5 in MVP voting next year...which won't happen, so he isn't opting out. Allocating $35M over 3 years to a defense first (only?) 3rd baseman isn't good use of resources IMO.

I thought you were just throwing out names of 3rd basemen who could be available...you weren't making suggestion on who you thought would be a good fit. Now you are, and are prepared to tout McMahon as a solid trade candidate? Best of luck with that.

How many of McMahon's homers or Coors created though?

He's like a 15 hr dude on most other teams

McMahon would be the third most valuable player on the Jays this season at 2.2 WAR, but alright he sucks!

Why were you rostering Kris Bryant? lol.

He would be the third most valuable position player on the Jays season. He doesn't suck.

Out of his 16 home runs this season, he's equally hit 8 HR's at home and 8 HR's on the road this season.

I'm not rostering Bryant in a 12 team redraft, bro. Nor any league. McMahon's expensive, we have Clement, the same output on our team in wRC+ at minimum salary, use your brain for more than a hat rack. The value saved alone is far more than this suggestion, it's not hard.

The Mariners announced that they have signed outfielder Víctor Robles to a contract extension. It reportedly guarantees him $9.75MM over the next two years, which includes a $1.25MM signing bonus. He can earn an extra $2MM via bonuses/escalators, $1MM in each season, $500K for reaching 500 plate appearances and another $500K for 600 plate appearances. The Mariners will have a $9MM club option for 2027.

Interesting. He's been really good since arriving in Seattle. They obviously think there's a good chance the tweaks he's made will stick. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

He was really verging on being done at one point

Coors tends to have a bigger impact on hits than homers. Lots of doubles hit to that big outfield.

What a pitching dual last night between Chris Sale and Blake Snell.

Both combined for 13.1 shutout innings and 23 K's!

That's how someone who finishes the year with 23 homers, 31 doubles, 3 triples and a .191 ISO ends up with a wRC+ of 88 last year.

Sale deserves a lot of credit. He's nearly having a career year at age 35 and is approaching the total number of innings he threw between 2020 and 2023 this year. Hopefully the Braves figure it out and can go on a run to end this season. He is definitely not a pitcher many thought would age very well. He may cash in one final time this offseason.

Yeah homers only have a park factor of 108 which is 9th overall. Not much different than RC at 102.

But because the OFers have so much ground to cover they have to play back so there are more singles (115) too. And because the OF is so damn deep there are more doubles even if the OFers play back (119) and the place is basically broken when it comes to triples (197). Combine that with strike outs being 88 (everyone's stuff flattens out) and it's a hitter's paradise.

But it's also hard to judge how it affects the overall statline of their hitters. At home they get a pretty big advantage, but there is the Rockie Road theory that their hitters struggle more on the road than other players because everyone's stuff appears to be so much better when not at altitude. That does even it out some but to what degree I'm not sure.

It's something that would likely even out after the guy left Colorado and started playing elsewhere. But yeah, to what degree is the important part.

Yeah its quite remarkable how he has held up and pitching at this elite level at the age of 35. If he stays healthy and continues to pitch at a high level for a couple of more seasons, he likely seals himself a ticket to Cooperstown.

He has a real shot at 3000 strikeouts. Should finish this season over 2400. 4 more years of 150 gets him there. Can he stay reasonably healthy from 36-39?

And Jake McCarthy with a hit in the bottom of the ninth, 2 outs, to win it 4-3

They are 9-1 in their last 10

5 wins in a row

Lead the league in runs scored

Tied for 4th highest wRC+

I hadn’t realized how good their offense has been, and that’s with Carroll hitting like butt cheeks most of the year
