Mark my words. He signs with the Red Sox and stays with them until 41. Wins a triple crown, and MVP, fulfills his Pujols potential and like David Ortiz somehow defies belief and lasts until he is 41.

Becomes part of the fabric of the city, brings joy to the youth, makes old, bitter, message board posters less skeptical. Changes the vibe of the city. On buses and billboards with Jason Taytum.

He will be everything we dreamed he would be but for the Red Sox.

Damn this feels too realistic

Can't wait to bet against the Yankees this year. With how everyone is on their knob with their patchwork offseason moves, I should get some great odds betting them to miss the playoffs again. The team is old, injury-prone, one-dimensional and poorly run. I expect at least one of Judge or Cole to materially decline. I can understand people being on their knobs about their offense. They'll mash a ton of homers and be mediocre everywhere else but that's still considered to be a good offense.

But that rotation? Cortes is basically one half-step above Gustavo Chacin. Rodon is done but they'll haul his ass out there every 5 days because sunk cost until he hits the DL. Clarke Schmidt is Clarke Schmidt. Stroman will probably be personally responsible for half of Guerrero's GIDP this year but other than that I don't see how any of his numbers over the past two years with the Cubs - quantity or quality - is going to translate that well to the AL East. The contract was a very fair one. A couple million dollars less than Bassitt. People complained about that Bassitt contract last year but I'm taking Bassitt over Stroman easy. So Cole has to carry the rotation like he usually does just for it to be okay-ish.

The Yankees are not a 95 win team. They might be an 85 win team and fringe playoff contender. But most likely they are an under .500 team.

Just bored on the couch and wanted to look for first couple NYY receipts I could find

100%. I said this last year when everyone I was chatting with during the pre-season was terrified of this geriatric team.

Their team continues to age and every star is not just injury prone but made of glass. I think 90 wins would be a huge success for these guys, and the future is not bright with these massive alabatross contracts and a bottom 10 farm system. Regardless of how much they have to spend, I think they would have been way better off trying to pivot and take a year or two to rebuild. Anyways, all good on our end if they continue to 'go for it', I'm more worried about the Rays and Orioles.

Oof

I could see them winning 85 games, but i could also see them winning 95. Same with the Jays really

Way to hedge and cover your bases. Well done

I also realized a couple quality anti-establishment posters like deanmike and wamco got the apparent permaban. Harsh

I forgot about poor Dean.

The mods did him a favor, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's posting around here somewhere.

His last days on the board were a textbook display of someone experiencing a mental health episode. I would not be surprised if he was committed shortly thereafter. He was a truly sick and bizarre individual.

They'd have to open a thread for you with the dumb s*** you say on here daily, meat.

Deanmike legitimately seemed like the type who would murder other board members over a minor dispute.

That was Frenchsoup. He was like the mostly harmless dude who was just kind of annoying. Deanmike seemed like he had a real dark side to him and was like a hand grenade with the pin pulled.

Looks pretty scrumptious. I used to eat s*** like this when I was a bachelor and didn't really know how to cook.

Hahahaha, I love how they have to say "natural" before beef and pork AND it still has an asterisk!

The above post in a normal world should’ve gotten some likes. There was likely collusion amongst the mods, where they started analyzing my likes to determine any frequent “likers”, as the people they’d target. Deanmike didn’t stand a chance

That Jays need to get +5 over .500 for you to be safe. They’re a 3 game sweep away from everyone throwing tomatoes at you

19th in runs scored and 15th in wRC+ after being the best offense in baseball (by a mile) last year.

It's actually not dissimilar from what they Jays have gone through:

Acuna was hitting for 0 power (109 wRC+) then broke

Olson is worse across the board and only has a 118 wRC+

Harris II can't hit at all (84 wRC+)

Murphy can't hit at all (11 wRC+)

Riley can't hit at all (82 wRC+)

Albies has turned into a slap hitter

Basically their offense is Ozuna

It's wild to see. And yes, the sample size is a lot smaller than Toronto's, but, it might give a slight indication of how fickle things can be in baseball. I wonder if Braves fans are calling for their hitting coaches to be fired, suggesting they must have implemented a new philosophy across the organization that has ruined their offense, or questioning if there are issues with their player development.

And then of course, there is a possibility that all these things are true (or that some of them are) and whether AA should be to blame for it.

I was on Braves Reddit yesterday. They're calling for a rebuild and seem to agree that their core are a bunch of feckless losers.

The Braves are also a case in point for just get in and you have a chance.

2021 - 88 wins, win world series

2022 - 101 wins, 1 playoff win

2023 - 104 wins, 1 playoff win

Of course anyone that gets in has a chance but if you’re going to rely on someone like Eddie Rosario becoming Babe Ruth, it’s not going to end well most of the time.
