Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 lmao... that's gold.... He's been somewhat decent this season, but his K/9 really low. His 2022 season looks more like an anomaly. Who the f*** is Jorge Lopez? Yup.

Interesting he got as far as he did. Numbers coming up through the ranks were kind of meh. Guess maybe he was one of those trash cans they throw out like we something and he did good. He made a couple million this year. He can still say he’s having some family/wife problems and get a second chance for that
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2024 Author Posted May 30, 2024 This one is even worse because Soto needs to get back to the bag or else its a DP. Isn’t the baserunner entitled to the bag?? f***ing egregiously bad call. That's what I thought you. What's Soto supposed to do there to not get called out for interference. Rip back to the bg so fast and then round it back the 1b side? Very bad umpire interpretation there.

Isn’t the baserunner entitled to the bag?? f***ing egregiously bad call. It's an interesting one. Soto should have been back, standing on the bag well before he interfered with the fielder. I think his somewhat casual movement back to the bag, followed by sudden movements - right when the field enters the picture didn't do him any favors. I believe the general rule is the runner has to allow the fielder to make the play. If he was back, standing on the bag right away, I don't think that gets called.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 I think there's some language issues here that are explained in this thread:
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Nice to see JJ Bleday turning his career around.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 I think there's some language issues here that are explained in this thread: Jays should pick him up and say they support mental health treatment for professional athletes and no team should be so quick to make decisions around a player who is clearly going through an episode of anxiety 106 stuff+ 98 location+; Jorge Lopez is still a perfectly cromulent middle reliever Jays will need SP depth actually since Manoah is having the TJS, I wonder if Lopez with his pitching style could still start and chug innings? It would not be pretty but Buffalo is a f***ing wasteland for SP depth at this point
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Sure sounds to me like he said "I'm probably the worst team mate in MLB"

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Sure sounds to me like he said "I'm probably the worst team mate in MLB" I just saw something where he clarified that's exactly what he said (or meant to say).
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 I wonder if they consider bringing Macko directly from AA. I see Mitch White was designated for assignment by the Brewers. I missed that he was cut loose by the Giants earlier in the season.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 I wonder if they consider bringing Macko directly from AA. Van Eyk could be an option as well if they won't want to mess with Macko's development.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 I wonder if they consider bringing Macko directly from AA. Have to consider it Nobody is AAA is worth more than a spot start If Francis and Y Rod aren't options, then your options are basically Macko (who is on the 40 man) or Espino or some bullpen thing while stretching out Richards
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Wonder who is out there as a vet SP willing to go to AAA. Syndergaard?
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Wonder who is out there as a vet SP willing to go to AAA. Syndergaard? Zack Greinke and Rich Hill have both said they want to keep playing Greinke would be fun
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 This is where it would be nice to have Cody Poteet who the Yankees got for depth for nada.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Splatkins will figure it out I trust
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 What if Zack Greinke and Joey Votto are exactly the kind of vetrin presents that we need to turn this season around and win the World Series?
glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 I wonder if they consider bringing Macko directly from AA. This would be the preferable route. Just call up actual prospects and see what they can do. If you're lucky you get Davis Schneider, or maybe you get Addison Barger's cup of coffee in the bigs, but it's better than finding some vetrin scrub off the scrap heap and hoping for a miracle.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Trenton Wallace might be an interesting option if they were considering bringing up an SP straight from AA
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 It will be interesting to see if we see a bunch of desperation moves by Atkins as he knows he's on the hotseat - or if he'll continue to make decisions for the long term benefit of the team. I do believe the season is already lost, so I'd typically be worried about him unloading prospects in a last ditch effort to turn the season around; however, at this point, we barely have any prospects who are even interesting - guys that I'd be pissed off if we moved. So, I don't really care what he does - I doubt it will make much difference either way.

I feel the same, but at the same time there's definitely moves to be made that can help this season without compromisng the future. I'm not sure exactly what those moves are, but they are out there.

Also seems doubtful we even have the pieces needed to go get the players we need to salvage this season. I guess some moron may think Ricky T isn't broken, but I'm not sure any other prospect is going to land you difference maker. We'd seemingly be selling Ricky at his low point too - so I can't imagine that's even considered.

A new GM probably looks at the landscape and sells all of Bo, Gausman, Berrios, Garcia, others.

Is it generally more difficult to fire your GM and find a superior alternative midseason (v. offseason)? I suspect it is and suspect we're stuck with Atkins for the rest of the year.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 This Lopez story is getting worse and worse. Apparently his son has serious health issues and is on a waiting list for a transplant. Poor guy loses his cool because he's under a lot of stress and wants to WIN and then has the courage to face the media afterward by answering questions in his second language. He flubbed the answer a bit but talked about how he needs to be a better teammate. The Mets, a trash organization, take in all of the above and DFA him despite his 3.76 ERA this year.

This all seems bizarre. I didn't see him toss his glove into the stands, but with all the nets now, I suspect it wasn't some violent throw meant to hurt anyone. Had to be a toss over the net, like you'd toss a ball. Some fan gets a f***ing cool souvenir. Why was the manager so upset that his pitcher, who's just pissed off at his own performance, flips a glove into the stands? Or are their rules that players aren't supposed to do that?
