Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2024 Posted March 12, 2024 Hold the line Chicago! We're all supporting you. Make the Yanks PAYYYYYYY - Jones and Jasson Domínguez! Can't see both but would be funny if they gave up Jones for Cease and then his arm blew up too
Jaysareus Verified Member Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 Terrible news for the Yankees re Cole
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 Is Rodon still looking like cooked garbage?

glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 Cashman's last few years of futility is catching up to him big time. Just the last two years of trades alone (Donaldson, Gallo, Montas, Montgomery/Bader) have been horrendous, and then factor in signing LeMahieu to a long ass contract, Hicks (who was released with years left on his deal), taking ten years of Stanton's contract (still has 4 years left and he was sub replacement level last season), signing Rodon to a 6 year deal rather than giving him a pillow contract the year before, etc. It's just a horribly constructed roster with a bloated payroll. This was really their year with Soto an impending FA (he'll either leave or get $500m+ further depleting their financial flexibility....Hal is not George). They can't afford to lose Cole or Judge, much less both, for any extended period of time.
Jaysareus Verified Member Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 We need to say a prayer for the Yankees

glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 And yet, somehow theyll still win 85 games after reading for Cease and not giving up the stud OF in the process The fact that they finished over .500 last season is incredible with the lineups they were throwing out there. They'll probably still find a way to be competitive regardless knowing them.

So many times we've seen guys try to play through it, and it ends up two three times worst.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 Cole is getting 2nd and 3rd opinions on his elbow, this sounds like TJ The Yankees can get bent, Danny Burgers destroyed their season lmao
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 Yeah, he's f***ed. Judge had an MRI same day, they have results.

Then Cole probably got a little maddy saddy and did a big Arthur fist clench grrr arrrgh and his ligament popped
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 Looks like the Yankees rotation is crumbling before our very eyes? Too bad there is still pitchers like Montgomery and Snell still sitting on the shelf. Even guys like German, Lorenzon and Clevinger could be had for probably very little cost or term.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 I’ll just leave this here WTF? It appears as if the dude is feeling up his grandma or something.

They're so far into the luxury tax they'd have to pay a ton in penalties for adding the salaries those guys want

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 NY Post: Yankees ace Gerrit Cole will be out at least one-to-two months and will head to Los Angeles for an appointment with noted sports surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache, The Post has learned. Several Yankees doctors and ElAttrache have viewed Cole’s preliminary film, and while none has detected a tear in his ulnar collateral ligament, there’s enough concern about the ligament that ElAttrache has suggested an in-person visit. Word is that the defending AL Cy Young Award winner will be out for an “extended period,” although for now, the hope and belief is that Cole has a chance to return sometime in May or early June.

That is a weird update. Is the ligament stretched? Coming off the bone? Highly inflamed? It's probably torn and the Yankees are just in denial.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 Yanks delaying the inevitable TJS so he misses not only all of this year but most of next year This is what happens when you build your team around 300 million dollar superstars
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 The Danny Burgers signing is worth it even more now. Him pimping that dinger against Cole had a butterfly effect and we now have TJ for Cole.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 Boras really screwed over his FA's this year. 3 of his high profile clients are still free agents and it's almost the end of spring training.
