Probability, man. You being the sperm that fertilized the egg was a 1 in 50,000,000 chance. One of the other 49,999,999 would have been better.

lol...damn.

Ok I gotta clap for this one. Shrek’d.

Not sure I'd be laughing at that with what he's doing as a friggin rookie. He's accomplished more playoff success in 1 postseason than Bo/Vlad/Kirk/Jansen/Biggio combined and hes not even done yet lol.

Absolutely. He's helped lead the Diamondbacks of all teams to the World Series. Catchers are the leader of a team, the way he's handled that pitching staff as a rookie has been super impressive. Can't believe what a horrible fleecing this trade has been.

You should start another thread and talk about it.

Im kinda turning on to the idea that big bat/mediocre pitching teams are far more favorable in the playoffs compared to good pitching/D teams.

You look at the teams that won from the last few seasons and its all heavy slugging teams that had a few good pitchers.

You have to get there and the pitching is a big factor in that but yes, what the Jays did with Berrios kind of makes your point.

They trade 2 top prospects and put $130M into him and pull him early in a elimination game, because of their game management philosophy. If you are going to invest that much of your prospect capital and payroll in a SP, over other options like big bats, then don't you have to utilize them more?

I really like this. I think fans lose this perspective a lot.

Moreno and Gurriel winning CO - WS MVP would be magical.

I'm really sorry that you didn't get your wish here for such a "magical" moment as each of these players had mediocre world series results.

Moreno home run. Atkins you idiot

Funny how Kirk and Moreno are same guy, except Kirk more durable and as of now has better post season numbers.  Atkins did a great job realizing the one with the "better" body artificially had more trade value but Kirk so far has been more durable.

Moreno:

  1. Hasn't been able to stay healthy
  2. Hasn't produced more than 2.7 WAR (#1 being a factor)

Kirk:

  1. Star level 2025 with 4.7 WAR
  2. 4+ WAR projection
  3. Signed a very team-friendly extension
  4. Is only 15 months older than Moreno
  5. Fan favourite
  6. Oozes soft skills - leadership, handling pitchers, etc.

Varsho:

  1. 3.1 WAR in 2024
  2. Played like a 4+ WAR player in 2025 (pro-rated)

Safe to close the books on this one. Moreno still has his arb years of control with Arizona but the decision to stick with Kirk and the eventual team-friendly extension wipes that out.

Imagine Rogers having the patience and foresight to stick with Ross the Boss not just after the disappointment of 2023, but then an anomolous 74 win 2024 as well.

Cojones of steel in the face of wavering fan support.

Two years after this thread was created, Boss Atkins was literally one inch away from being guaranteed a spot on the Level of Excellence. Crazy in hindsight.

But yeah, the glazing of Moreno was exhausting. Glad common sense has come back into the picture.

the title of this thread is just A+, no notes. we need titles like this for all big re-signings, just change the period to an exclamation point if it's a good one

BO BICHETTE is going to be back in 2026? WTF!?!? Lmao unreal!

lol... I'd fallen asleep right after the Kings game, so around 1AM and then woke up at 5AM... so I was bored and bumped into this thread and had a good laugh and decided to bump it for sh*ts and giggles. 😜
