This ought to be a doozy.

Long and short -> major f***ing changes are needed from the top of the organization all the way to the bottom.

I guess we aren't the 2022 Phillies after all.

We were and are what we were all season. Good pitch, good D, no hit/power and make too many dumb outs on the bases.

Can't wait for Spring Training, when the dark cloud(s) hovering around this team have been vanquished.

They won't be vanquished until they actually show signs of life in the post season

My takeaways/Things I learned:

- Winning 89 games by means of pitching and defense is far less entertaining then the previous Jays teams of the last few years who just crushed the ball.

- It seems breaking up the Barrio and taking on this serious mantra had some sort of negative effect on the comradery of the team. Just didn't seem to have as much drive and passion on offense.

- Said pitching and defense was awesome but the offense fell so hard off a cliff we didn't have a chance.

- Moreno is better than Varsho never mind Moreno and Gurriel Jr.

- The full on analytical approach is beyond dumb if your not going to leave any room for conventional feel and intuition in the game. Berrios should have been left in and the Kikuchi plan should have been scrapped based on how Berrios looked. Huge Huge Huge Loss for Atkins and his precious analytics team.

- I am officially out on Atkins even though we have been a 85-95 win team for 4 straight years. Im just done. Breaking up the Barrio, Varsho trade, and the analytics thing is enough.

I guess Kikuchi isn’t Andrew Miller

He was fine actually, two weak hits, the pitching staff as a whole was not the problem. They just weren't good enough to carry this putrid offense because they don't score enough runs.

This game checked off every item on the classic 2023 Toronto Blue Jays bingo card.

Yup.

Lots of singles? Check

Bad results with RISP? Check

No power to be seen from anyone? Check.

Multiple 400 foot outs to CF? Check.

Inexcuseable baserunning errors at key times? Check

Bingo!

This era hasn’t been all that different from 2004-2008, mediocrity at its finest. Just more playoff spots to make it feel like we have a chance when we’re actually objectively second class

Pulling Berrios was creative but it was too cute by half. Kooch came in and the righty bats got some ground balls through. But those same righty bats were in the rest of the game and got mowed down. Too smart for their own good but I at least can see the reasoning.

What really pisses me off is Vlad getting picked off. Just totally inexcusable. He's a dumbass and he's not going to be worth 20 mil next year when he's one of the dumbest players in the game who has a bad approach (fueled by his low IQ), bad defense and horrible baserunning (because he's fat and also low IQ). I honestly hope they explore trade offers for him this offseason.

The team never had a long winning streak all year, even with the SPs we have. We couldn't win a clinching game against a team that had nothing to play for and started scrubs in a bull pen game. A Tiger doesn't change it stripes...

Bo has not shown, the ability to play solid D in the playoffs and let himself get caught up in the moment and some bad ABs at key times even thought he did get a bunch of hits. Vlad has not shown he is a leader and a star player. Offense, defense and base running.

Biggio batting 5th for a playoff game is a major roster construction issue.

Varsho succumbing to the pressure and doing something he never does on D.

Did no one learn from taking Snell out of the Rays game?? FFS???

The hitting coaches need to go for no other reason then to flush the stench.

Embarrassing end to the season. Team needs major changes too many mistakes, hitters not producing. Something is wrong with this team.

Jays hitting coaches seem unaware that other teams' pitching coaches are eating our lunch.

Obvious example: Everyone knows how to pitch to Vladdy now, and he and the coaches have had no solution.

Should have kept Teoscar, for the intangibles.

Should have moved Kirk, not Moreno.

And if Pearson hadn't been a bust we might have had some money for a professional pinch hitter - remember Rance Mulliniks? One of those.

It's a shame because so many Jays had good seasons.

Shows you how good the top half of the league is now; with all our good players, we might still have been the weakest team in the AL playoffs.

So who's the starting third baseman next season? Gotta be Barger aka Bulger.

There's absolutely no reason to think he would be suitable enough to play Third Base next Season. That would be a massive downgrade across the board.

Didn't even have a good AAA Season.

I'd rather sign Donaldson for the year, but what are the other options, really. Biggio every day at 3B?

People need to realize nobody wanted Kirk for anything worth while... I hear this so much, why didn't we trade Kirk!!??... You can't trade something for something no one wants...

The really sad part is none of this requires hindsight. This was pretty much all foreseeable except for Rogers media puppets and a few nut huggers on this board. More than a few actually..

I will say what I said at the beginning of the season, I hated the offseason we had, we came back as a worse team with a more bloated payroll and bare bones organizational talent to show for.

I mean the Jays were the 6 seed and got swept. It’s not even debatable that this was the weakest AL playoff team.
