That’s always been a funny one

Ya sorry Vlad you don’t have the chops for 3B like Bo does for SS

Its always seemed like this FO was afraid to ruffle Bo’s feathers. Never got that feeling regarding Vlad

Bo didn't gain 60 lbs after his rookie season either.

lol.

2. Soto

3. Guerrero

4. Devers

It will happen. Unlimited Joy in Boston, unlimited pain in Tortonto. And they will give up no prospects for Soto/Vlad just money. At least we can rub it in to Grant.

Would definitely be a huge blow. Boston has a lot of other great supporting bats in their lineup and all they would need to do is add another arm or two.

Never count Boston out. They always have the money and resources to make big splashes and retool quickly. They won 81 games last season, and could easily become a 90+ win team the following year or two.

Yeah everyone forgetting how Vlad showed up to camp extremely overweight. That was the main reason he was moved off 3B so early

so vlad liked a picture, so what. GET HIM SIGNED FFS

If the Jays were serious about Soto they would have signed Vlad already. They are going to be wondering why they missed out when they were right there at the finish line. Why is Soto signing with Toronto to play 1 year with Vlad? Boston is already telling Soto that they will get Vlad next off season. If tweedle dee and tweedle dumn had just signed Vlad they might have had a shot at Soto.

I honestly don't think Vladdy is too bright and that he likes shiny objects. He probably saw a picture of himself and automatically liked it. Never thought of the "big picture" of liking it. So in short, it means nothing.

Bo sure looked like he gained those 60 pounds last year, dude looked slow as f*** out there. Says something about his SS abilities when he's been in tip top shape previously and still sucked at the position. Obviously the Blue Jays Golden Child can't get moved off SS even for an inning.

Most of these are jokes but it wouldn't be hard to see how Vladdy could feel slighted with how the Jays have treated him lol.

Olerud has been calling Vlad to the Sox for a while now

He hits well there and is through age 25 very similar to Manny Ramirez if you adjust for era (wRC+ similar).

Seems like someone the Red Sox would want to get to repeat the Manny Ramirez experience, and seems Vlad would love to team up with Devers. So can see it happening.

Hard to believe but Vlad is really right with Ramirez and Cabrera through age 25. What is special about those two is they took it the next level age 26 through 33 went like from 140 wRC+ guys to 170 with a run of triple crown like seasons, (with Cabrera actually winning one).

For some reason hard to picture Vlad being consistent for 7 years... but maybe with the Red Sox he will.

Bo's average sprint speed was higher last season compared to 2023 despite dealing with multiple calf injuries over the course of the season. And he posted a positive OAA number for the first time in the last 4 years. But of course you are here whinging like usual because of his visual appearance.

You didn't actually expect him to check the numbers or support his ramblings with facts did you?

He has definitely improved defensively but when the bar was so low, it still isn't something bragging about. His range defensively is subpar and basestealing has all but disappeared. If we're going to talk about sprint speed then why bring up Vladdy's weight when his sprint speed is similar to Bo's...

Maybe you should spend a bit more time watching the games instead of trying to cherry pick numbers to always "support" your argument. There are certain things that are very obvious from watching games that you're clearly missing the boat on from being a numbers nerd... hopefully this front office takes that advice too lol.

I didn't ever bring up Vlad's weight, try to stay on topic. Having said that even with Vlad's improved sprint speed Bo is still a far better defender than Vlad at a far harder position on the field.

I'm not surprised in the slightest that you would use the lame "watch the games" argument. Unlike you I both watch the games and analyze what my eyes show me with data so that I actually understand fully what's taking place instead of jumping to harebrained conclusions.

It's hard to tell you and Brownie apart at times so my bad lol.

And obviously Bo plays a harder position defensively but thats the exact same reason why the standards should be higher there.

Bo's bat has typically been good enough to cover up the defensive deficiencies in his game. For the 4 seasons from 2020-2023 when he was mostly healthy he was the 6th most valuable short stop performer by FWAR in all of MLB. Obviously if he's not hitting he takes a huge hit in the value he can provide, but outside of one really awful defensive season in 2023 he's been adequate defensively at short stop.

It's never been a question about his bat, it's always been his defense. And being adequate defensively in probably the most important position on the field isn't good enough for a team trying to contend for a world series, especially when you punted on offense to be great defensively.

Anyways, this argument is old as hell. Blue Jays screwed up by not moving Bo to 2B earlier in his career so it is what it is. They catered to his ego from the start and aren't even looking like they'll be able to keep him long term anyways lol.

Guys like Boegarts, Trey Turner and Corey Seager are all average at best defensively and did nothing to hurt their team's chances at competing for world series titles.

I don't think the team had a long term short stop solution that was a better overall player than Bo. I don't think it was anything to do with Bo's ego whatsoever, that's just an old played out argument that has no basis in reality. Bo himself offered to move off of short stop if it helped to improve the team, and there was a concerted effort to attain Lindor from Cleveland years ago that would have moved Bo off of short stop at that time.

You're right... I only mentioned Bo at SS for a world series contender because the Jays punted their offense to go all in on pitching/defense and yet had one of the weaker defensive SS's in baseball when that decision was made.

Bo was the team's best/most consistent position player most seasons of his career so it shouldn't be shocking that they hung onto him during his cheap years of team control.

Glad to see I'm no longer Brownie's No. 1 target haha.

It is hard to fathom there's someone else who says more dumb s*** than you do

Atkins is going to outlast Trudeau. Truly incredible feat. Not sure if it's a function of Atkins being smarter than Trudeau or if it's a function of Rogers being dumber than Canadian voters*

*Dumber in that it took them this long to smarten up and oust Trudeau. There are certain pockets of the internet, like Reddit, filled with very stupid people calling Canadian voters dumb for finally smartening up.

The Blue Jays announced their 2025 coaching staff on Monday afternoon. The only previously unreported addition is assistant pitching coach Sam Greene.

The 27-year-old Greene is one of the younger coaches on an MLB staff. This is his first big league coaching work. The Jays noted that he spent the ’24 season working as a senior pitching research specialist. Greene, a Pennsylvania native, pitched collegiately in Canada at Montreal’s McGill University. He has worked for the Jays for four seasons.
