Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 This would help Tiedemann stay healthy in the future? Yeah their training department is trash
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 Even knowing that I still wouldn't trade an elite starting pitching prospect for a rental player, no matter how good the rental. Soto 100 times in a 100 over TINSTAPP
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 Soto 100 times in a 100 over TINSTAPP I'd have no qualms with trading Tiedemann but still maintain it should be for more than a pure rental player.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 Yeah their training department is trash Go take a look at Tommy John surgery rates across baseball and this is far from a Blue Jays only issue.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 I mean Tiedemann Manoah Barriera Maroudis Romano Bo's calfs Votto's ankles Springer for 3 years Orelvis being stupid Andres Arias At some point they have to be doing something wrong lmao Kyle Hurt just announced he is having TJ, look at the Dodger's IL list. I will conceded that based on some insinuations by Josh Donaldson and maybe Bo, I have suspicions about position players on the IL. However, I think with pitching, it is cross organizational.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 As mentioned numerous times it is a league wide issue. MLB needs to take serious look at what is causing all these arms to go down like this
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 I'd have no qualms with trading Tiedemann but still maintain it should be for more than a pure rental player. Soto is one of the Unicorn rental players and a Team that was/is struggling with offense. The Jays "brain trust" was a banking on all four veteran starters performing at same level and Manoha coming back solid. I trade Rickey T for Soto (rental) every day of the week and twice on Sundays. RT is not Paul Skeens or the dude on the Nationals at the time... (brain fart on the name).

The Blue Jays would have maybe had an above average offense for the season but still would have had an awful bullpen so the whole thing likely would have been for naught. The team's best trade chip would be gone for good and Soto would be lost to free agency in the offseason.

In general yeah, but at the top of the organization pitching prospect wise, the Jays seems to be blowing everyone's arms off at once
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 They say it is all due to velocity... so many factors, biomechanics plays a huge role. American Sports Medicine Institue have been studying this for years, they have all the research

The team's best trade chip would be gone for good and Soto would be lost to free agency in the offseason. The Jays FO were assuming they would have an elite pen coming into 2024. That is hindsight. We all observed that there was nothing significant done to the offense in the offseason which was problematic in 2023.

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 that would be my 1st question to Shapiro/Akitns in post season presser It's really pissing me off that both are still here. Do we need another 9 years with 0 playoff wins to show they've failed at the vision they laid out? We didnt even get any real type of winning, let alone the "sustainable winning" these douches kept reiterating at the start of their tenure. Guess Rogers is waiting for Bo and Vlad to walk for nothing before actually making any real organizational change.

Look at the Dodgers list of injuries. Or other teams. Should the Dodgers fire everyone too?
Masterbather Verified Member Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 Can't even get a sliver of excitement from making trades because we're trading crap for other crap. Would have been nice if some of the pending free agents didn't s*** the bed. But such is the 2024 season. There's not even a top prospect to look forward to down the stretch. These are rough times.

It's basically Horwitz and Jimenez for me and hoping Vladdy continues hitting like he's been is what I basically watch for.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 Incase you missed the game today.....we have a new stud playing 3B
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Incase you missed the game today.....we have a new stud playing 3B I'm probably most impressed with how fast he got up from the ground. Play him at 3B for remainder of the year and hope he can stick there. That'll open up 2 spots at 1B and DH where we can go big bat hunting this offseason, assuming this front office has figured out offense is still an issue.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 This isn't true. Look at the Dodgers list of injuries. Or other teams. Should the Dodgers fire everyone too? Why would you fire management who has won 100+ games like 5 years in a row?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Why would you fire management who has won 100+ games like 5 years in a row? He suggested the whole FO should be fired because of all the injuries the team has faced. That's dumb logic. That all I was pointing out. Thanks.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Incase you missed the game today.....we have a new stud playing 3B Holy s***

That all I was pointing out. Thanks. Right I understand. But if they had won 100 games for 5 straight years I don’t think anybody would care what the IL looks like
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Right I understand. But if they had won 100 games for 5 straight years I don’t think anybody would care what the IL looks like The point is that even great front offices have very little control over injuries to their players. Thus, blaming the FO and suggesting they should all be fired because there are a lot of guys injured right now is....stupid. holy f***
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Always believed in him and even Springer while most ppl here were writing him off. Feel good about that one
Sorrow Verified Member Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 Even being an elite bat this year he's likely going to be a 3.5 win player because everything else is so bad which is a bit disappointing.
