Please go for it in 2025 with the same roster + Robbie Grossman

There is nothing Atkins could do to fix the offense.

Posted

They should have offered Ohtani a billion, and let the Padres take whatever prospects they wanted for 1 year of Soto.

THAT would have made a difference for sure.

None of the other mid range players would have moved the needle enough to "fix" anything with half our other starters rocking sub .600 OPS's

1. Deal KK (he'd be a nice veteran D pick up for a contender), Jansen (if he won't re-sign a fair deal) and Kikuchi (Boras....) for whatever lottery tickets you can get. Should be able to get some more lottery tickets from dealing Yimi and Richards too

2. Look to move Bo and Vlad, hopefully some teams out there thinks they can fix these two duds

3. Reset the luxury tax

4. Play the s*** out of the Buffalo boys and see what you've got, get them some experience to hopefully build off of

5. Build next years rotation around Gausman, Berrios, Bassitt with Y-Rod/Tiedemann/Francis/Macko trying to fill it out along an FA signing or two, maybe Manoah makes it back mid season

6. Also spend the rest of the season seeing if any of the relief arms in AAA/AA have any promise at the MLB level. Cooke, Danner, Juenger, Pardhino, Flaherty, Eisert, Brock, Burnette...

7. Go big game hunting in FA in the off season, see if you can find a better mix

8. Figure out why the f*** the drafting and development is failing and start fixing it

Figure out why drafting and development sucks and fix it? That’s like asking the government to investigate itself

These guys always love falling for the bait haha.

I am with you except for trading Vlad and Bo. You guys are going to kill me but I would try and extend them in the offseason.

There's no way you (or anyone else) actually enjoy watching either of these two bums play baseball.

I like watching Bichette when he’s healthy, he’s a fun hitter. Guerrero if he didn’t make me feel so sad would be fun to watch as well. Casual fans love Guerrero and think he’s some star player instead of a player who hits like a short stop and plays first base.

I don't know what you're talking about

Just trying to get my Atkins fellating in for the day, nice and early.

And only 1 of these players got booed hard this season and even said he deserved them at the time...

Yeah, Bo has been fun in the past. He hasn't been right for a year now though. I don't know if his physical tools are going to come back, but right now he's a bad defensive shortstop, bad baserunner, and bad hitter who makes very bad swing decisions. I feel like Jays fans saying the team should sign him long-term are just getting too cute with the 'buy low' idea. If its a 1-year pillow contract then sure, but right now this player just f***ing sucks, and I don't think anyone would want a multi-year deal with him in the offseason if he was coming from another org.

Similar thoughts on Vladdy. When your soon-to-be FA 1B is hitting like 2023 Ryan Noda, I don't see a 'buy-low' opportunity. Just a situation where you're glad the team didn't sign him to a long-term extension.

Yeah the one thing we can be grateful for right now is that the Jays didn't extend either Vlad or Bo to monster contracts.

Whether by design or by luck, it's very fortunate.

Personally I'm ready to see both shipped out and give them and the org a fresh start.

I'm trying to think of a good team that 'buys low' by offering long-term contracts to players who are physically compromised or coming off bad years. Drawing a blank. Good teams tend to just spend money on players who have been good recently.

Springer batting clean up today.

Save us, Ed Rogers.

I've been checked out recently and thought maybe he had been running a bit hotter lately to explain this.

24 wRC+ in June

4 wRC+ the last week

This team is utterly lost

The approach and process implemented is an epic fail. That comes right from the Top. Atkins hires managers, coaching, analytics. It's his process that's being implemented. He's responsible for everything, not just roster construction. Do something. It's like Atkins is trying to get fired, or smug and throwing it in our faces that he won't be fired. 7 hitting coaches isn't f***ing working. Anyalytics..too much, too little. Who knows. Every players underlying numbers look better than their actual production. They need to figure this s*** out. It's been multiple years now and it isn't f***ing working. The Jays destroy hitters.

No Horwitz last night for some stupid f***ing reason and today Springer is batting clean up. I guess Schneider liked the hard hit DP ball Springer hit to end the game last night. This is getting beyond ridiculous, even for this team.

We are being trolled

I was about to edit my post to include that. It sure feels like we are being trolled. Springer batting 4th is so stupid there's no other way to explain it.

Yeah the only thing to watch for, is I used to be a die hard Bluejay and Redskin fan, late 80’s. Front runner. Stuck with Jays through all the bad. But with the Redskin, I’d often be rooting for them to lose some seasons, so they’d fire their coach. One day I realized I didn’t really like them anymore lol.

Jays have a long ways to go before they’re the Redskins though. They also have corporate pussy owners, which in the case of Daniel Snyder, was preferable

You might be right, in a season like this one, why push him.

I have no problem with tanking, at this point.

The Jays are either low key tanking or they actually think this is their best lineup. Hopefully it's the former, but the latter seems more likely given this team's recent history. We were fooled by Atkins' dorkiness. He is not a nerd. Old school to the core.

Scneider post game “Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile, so we gave Georgie a shot”.

I wouldn't put it past Ross to extend all the injured players on longer IL stints if we keep losing and lose realistic sight of the final WC spot. It's probably the only shot he has in getting one more year.
