You worry way too much about other posters on this board and trying to dunk on them over s*** they didn't even say and/or don't even believe and/or don't even do.

This is why baseball needed expanded playoffs for the longest time. Our season would have already been considered over during those times but now so many fanbases around the league have a reasons to stick with their teams throughout most of the season.

Varsho had a 2.7 WAR so far this season, Moreno and Gurriel Jr have a combined WAR of 0.9. Remind me who won this trade again?

Sounds like a 6 game trip to me.

Yeah its just stipud to cross 3 time zones in 7 days. Usually when you go west, you play at least 2 series on the coast, sometimes 3, then come home.

I knew what you meant, and it really is stupid.

The schedule from now to the ASB is pretty tough, but if we play okay it's pretty manageable.

@ MIL

vs CLE

vs BOS

@ CLE

@ BOS

vs NYY

vs HOU

@ SEA

@ SF

@ ARI

All of these teams are pretty good, but only one of them has been great so far and we get them at home.

Would be nice to to start off with a series win. Brewers are tough but we avoid their ace during the series.

This is the gauntlet. Make or break. Must win basically every series. Maybe they could afford a couple of series losses but with so many other teams in the WC race you know one of them is going to pull away. Definitely need to curb stomp Boston and Houston

The gauntlet kind of extends into the 2nd half of the season too. Home series against DET, TB, and TEX isn't bad, but we then have a TEN GAME stretch against the Orioles and Yankees, with 7 of those on the road.

But once August 8th ends, it's a TON of games against mid teams or worse. We get 7 games against the Angels (4 at home) and home series against the Marlins and A's. The only west coast road series the entire second half is the Angels. Everywhere else is in Central or Eastern time.

If we can end August 8th a couple of games over .500 I think we will be right in the thick of things. But that's no small task with that schedule (and our roster of misfit underperformers).

Rest.

In.

Shambles.

Those teams will be doing us a favour to finally kill us off.

You sound scared. Being 2 games out of a playoff spot has you shook.

Probably was posted earlier but full TJ for Manoah.

Does that mean he was right, and he had been dealing with injury issues that turned into this over the past year? I feel like there were several mentions of elbow concerns that the Jays felt weren't there late last year?

Sucks though, he did work his ass off this year to be in shape, to try to get back to being a solid pitcher. Just hope he's got another comeback in him.

You aren't entirely off base. I do shudder to think what this front office might do in the pursuit of a pointless playoff run in order to save its own ass.

At least he doesn’t have much farm assets to play with lol

Prob everyone could be traded for more than they’ll ever contribute. Tiederman too

It was some nebulous shoulder thing last year but yeah it's certainly possible the injury began a year ago and it was just hard to detect or not yet affecting the elbow specifically

kinetic chain gets all f***ed up and then in a matter of months, or sometimes years, the elbow eventually pops

in fact, given the sudden decline in stuff (he went from something like an SP3 in MLB to a bad AAA pitcher) I would bet that this is what happened. he was hurt heading into 2023, it was just a sneaky injury.

The reported injuries were to his shoulder, not his elbow. As someone else said, perhaps this explains why his Stuff+ went to s*** after this first full season....maybe that gives hope that he can return to that level at some point. Maybe not.

IIRC Manoah was claiming shoulder issues last year, not elbow issues. But its possible he altered his arm mechanics due to the shoulder issue which then caused this elbow injury.

I don't think so. Going .500 over that stretch keeps us in striking distance of wc3. We're not going to win every series during that run. No one should expect us to.

Lose one and sweep the next would be fine

I love how Horwitz is immediately the #2 hitter on a team with more than a $225M payroll.

Yeah sometimes it doesn't add up. Vogelbach doesn't play for the first couple of months now he's batting 5th. Horwitz toiling away in AAA but now he's 1 or 2 every game.
