Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Yes the Mexican knock offs that had a yellow swoosh and orange lettering were ugly You’re too funny man
Pinkfloid Verified Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 The Instagram post about the meaning behind different aspects of the jersey was pretty cool; I like that they tried to make them creative and in some way tied to the team's uniform history. Might not be the best one out there but it's far from bad IMHO.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Just read on MLBTR that the Jays are going to grab reliever Ryan Burr from the Phillies.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 We were all saying how ugly they were before the official reveal That's a broad brush you got there, dude.
Joltin Joe Verified Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 If Jays do give up on season, who is most to be moved? Could we get much back? Vladdy I imagine. Kikuchi?
keggy Verified Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 The product on the field has a 0.7% probability of winning the division in May while the fans argue about stadium renovations and merchandise. Shapiro is a genius, definitely the next MLB commissioner.
mphenhef Verified Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Oh come on lol these aren’t even close to being top 10 for city connects Are you guys all THAT malleable to marketing materials? I like them, especially with the red accents worn with them. I'm not sure I could rank them as I'm inherently biased towards the Jays ones. I personally don't think the Rays are that special but do like the Rockies and Nationals quite a bit.
The_DH Verified Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Great on Burr, good AAA fodder. So are we also going for McMahon of the Rockies? What would we be giving up and who would he be replacing? Or is this just clickbait?
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 This guy could be useful. I did a minor league statcast search to get a glance at his arsenal and he has a cutter that's played as an elite pitch in AAA this season. He throws the pitch 47% of the time and it's generated a 55% whiff rate, average exit velocity of 84.3 MPH and xwOBA of .175. I have no clue how this pitch would play against major league batters but he should probably get a look at some point given the struggles of the Blue Jays bullpen this season.

Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 This guy could be useful. Posted this last night. Small sample size, but he's blown up to 15K/9 in AAA this season. Hopefully he's found something that can work against MLB hitters too.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Burr from spring 94.5 mph 14.7 IVB four seamer (s***) 85.8 mph -1.9 IVB -4.7 HB slider or cutter (call it what you want. it drops more than a typical cutter.) tjStats dude had a 104 on the SL in spring and 96 on the FB so this is a guy with a fringe FB and decent slider/cutter not sure where the AAA k rate is coming from right now but he does just seem like a one trick pony with enough juice to dominate AAA hitters but not enough to be very effective in MLB he has basically ALWAYS been a good MiLB pitcher and his MLB sample is replacement level but not a nightmare

glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Kikuchi and Garcia for sure. Would have to consider pretty much everybody - Gausman, Jansen, Romano, Bichette Yeah Kikuchi and Garcia definitely, and possibly Jansen unless they want to keep him for 2025-beyond (still might be worth pursuing a trade in that scenario as you can just sign him as a FA). Beyond that and whatever BS fodder they can get for Turner and KK, I wouldn’t expect anything drastic. The 3rd WC competition still looks very mid to me so it’s possible a mini run could get them into the buyers position, which says more about the competition than it does the Jays.

Yeah it seems like he has had a true talent change via this cutter. His numbers have improved greatly this year and he projects well. Hopefully they call him up soon.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Jays have their Lefty lineup in with Falter on the bump, I'd rather see Varsho manning CF today, but whatever... Keep it rollin'
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Looks like TJs for Manoah. Tough luck after he seemed to work his ass off in the offseason
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Looks like TJs for Manoah. Tough luck after he seemed to work his ass off in the offseason Oof... suspected as much, sucks.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Man that sucks. Manoah was like found money, and just like that he's gone again. Just when the bullpen was getting replenished too, with Yariel and Francis almost ready to go.
Barrelsandbombs Verified Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Burr joining the big league squad right away it seems
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Maybe Manoah had sneaky elbow damage for a year and it wasn't really causing any pain until now but it was diminishing his stuff. That would make his sudden decline make more sense.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Apparently Francis is in the clubhouse too. He just threw 3+ innings in Buffalo so no point in adding him just yet but he could be ready as soon as tomorrow. Not sure who they will option for him. Genesis would get my vote. They could throw Burr a couple of innings and then option him too. Pop and Pearson are possibilities and I suppose Mayza could get the Swanson treatment.

I know they'd like a lefty on the team but Pop/Pearson > Cabrera/Mayza. Cabrera should never play another game again (for the Jays).

Perhaps the shoulder issues could be connected to elbow problems leading Alek to alter his mechanics, but that's a bit of a chicken/egg scenario that would be impossible to prove one way or the other. Hopefully Alek is one of the guys who comes back with improved stuff after Tommy John rehabilitation is complete and not one of the dudes who never regains their effectiveness. I hoped he would eventually spend an offseason at somewhere like Driveline but if he indeed needs surgery he'll be forced to go through the necessary strengthening process to get back to speed.
