Imagine getting bonus pool money for Wes Parsons. Ross Atkins is absolutely in the zone right now. Operating on another level. A man playing against boys.

This seems like a really good deal for the Jays, Parsons is 31 and stinks, and more international money is always a good thing. With that said, it's the Guardians, so Parsons probably going to dominate now.

Parsons is legit. Cleveland has been ruined by SP injuries. I bet they turn him into a 1 win SP5.

Getting international money for Parsons is great.

There was a lot of chatter about keeping him over Zulu but freeing up a 40-man spot while also getting that intl money seems like a wash compared to keeping Zulu.

Yeah, the Jays have a lot of reliever depth and lots of good prospect ones who miss bats but also miss the strike zone.

Essentially swapping one of the older ones in Zulu for international money is fine by me

Atkins all offseason. Probably knew Ernie and Davis were studs but didn't want to outright say "we have some total studs we don't want to block" because it would be overconfident or put too much pressure on the boys.

It's weird seeing them so hard up for pitching

Mayza's velo way down

Yea and being a lefty isn't good enough anymore, he needs to re-invent himself or he won't be around for much longer.

He threw 94 in NY on a cold night, it's mechanical I think, they're working on it apparently.

It must be close, and his slider is filthy as ever.

Danny Jansen just hit a grand slam in the Bisons game.

He's 2 for 3 in the game now.

He should be good to go for Friday.

Jansen starting instead of Kirk is going to be incredible (for however long it lasts).

Jansen is super underrated IMO, dude just can’t stay healthy. He will 100% have another DL stint this year

Kikuchi improved his fastball

Agreed. I’m still holding out faint hope that they work out an extension but Jansen will always come with the caveat that he will miss a chunk of games every year. I think Kirk at this point is a backup at best so if not Jansen then they’ll need another catcher to emerge soon. Or improve the offense significantly elsewhere so that having a fat ground ball singles hitter playing 5 days a week isn’t hurting the team as much.

Danny Jansen is the 21st best hitter in baseball since May 21st of 2021, with a minimum of 650PA, with a 132 wRC+. The guys around him are scrubs like Pete Alonso, Manny Machado, Julio Rodriguez, Fernando Tatis Jr, Jose Ramirez, Vladdy, Austin Riley. Among Catchers Jansen is the best offensive catcher in that time frame, the guys behind him are Rutchsman at 129, Garver at 128 and Smith and 127.

I think an ideal line up once Jansen is healthy is realistically something like

Springer, Turner, Bichette, Jansen, Guerrero, Schneider (LF), Biggio, IKF, Varsho

The lineup with Schneider and Jansen playing everyday all of a sudden looks a lot deeper.

I wonder if the Jays should look to extend Kikuchi?

I'd love to see this happen as I think Kikuchi has unlocked beast mode moving forward. I believe he's a Boras client so a pre free agency extension seems somewhat unlikely.

I cannot wait for the Jays to pound the Rockies this weekend

I’m going to be acting like the Lance Lynn of BJMB the entire series

Gotta take 2 of 3 at least. Rockies suck on the road!

I’d love to extend him for like 5/40 or whatever it looks like. Hope for 1 fully healthy year and he could put up like 4-5 WAR and earn the entire contract in a single season.
