Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 Just noticed Horwitz is still in camp. He could get waived. You mean Designated??? No f***ing way they do that.
The_DH Verified Member Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 Sorry Spanky, your comment is the kiss of death :-) And I was totally in agreement with your point then.

The_DH Verified Member Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 lol... Dude is like 4th string at 1b-dh-ph. But you know what: in 24 hours we'll know for sure and will be discussing the first game of the season.

Yes we will, why do you think I'm always trying to be controversial, it's just a difference of opinion, dude?
The_DH Verified Member Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 We're good, I don't find you that controversial to be honest. Controversy is a lot bigger than discussing 4th outfielders and 7th-8th relievers.

Controversy is a lot bigger than discussing 4th outfielders and 7th-8th relievers. True that, hah! But, I don't think they cut bait on a top 20 LHB that can play 2 positions, he's excellent depth. John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 I just have fingers crossed that Romano and Swanson's injuries are not severe and 60 day IR type injuries. The delay is probably because they have to put somebody on waivers and want to do it as late as possible. The waiver wire tomorrow has to be pretty big. Both were already playing catch on flat ground this week, a 60 day stint would seem unlikely at this point unless a step backwards is taken. The great thing about relievers is they don’t need much time to build up. From the time they’re throwing off a mound and throwing bullpens they could be game ready in 2 weeks-ish
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 Opening day in Tampa forecast at game time: 25 degrees and sunny Alberta: (Actual view from my car right now)

The bullpen completely changes when they return.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 Who gets the GDT today??? Does anyone have dibs
deanmike Verified Member Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 As expected Honestly I was kind of expecting it to be Pop. He wasn't even good in AAA last year, isn't a 45 FV prospect like Zulu, and his spring training measurables didn't even look good. However, better it's Zulu than someone like Danner or Little.
The_DH Verified Member Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 Snipe by Sherm His is the kind of arm that will draw interest. Somebody will expect they can fix his delivery and harness the 98-100 mph. Expect to lose him.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 Snipe by Sherm And the offseason is complete

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 Zulu might clear waivers, a lot of players like him getting designated today, well, I hope...
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 Zulu might clear waivers, a lot of players like him getting designated today, well, I hope... There's a chance. Remember there's a huge roster crunch around the league right now. That factor might allow him to clear waivers - but even if he doesn't, it means there will likely be other interesting arms like Zulu available throughout the year.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 Meh, sucks that Zulu hasn't figured out how to command his stuff but oh well. The Jays lost Merryweather last year and he's way better then Zulu, still had one of the better pens league wide. And this year they have more solid relief arms toiling in the upper minors.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 I just said that, dude. lol... well, in fewer words. Yeah I just wanted to add in the roster crunch component. There are a lot more Zulu's hitting waivers these days then there have been in previous years.
