jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 I played against the Blue Jays in MLB the Show tonight and won 4-1. Some things I noticed: - A lot of ground balls from the Jays lineup when pitching to them. Not many line drives. - Vladdy hit into a double play during a crucial moment with runners on base. - Kirk is extremely slow. He hit a couple of balls deep in the hole at SS and 2B, and was easy to still throw him out at first. - Gausman was solid against me for 6 innings, but came out of the game in the 7th after allowing a hit and Genesis Cabrera came on and gave up 3 runs. - Defensively, Jays outfield can cover ground. Was tough getting a ball between or by KK and Varsho. - Varsho is a fantastic base runner. Made a lot of infield grounders close at first base. - Biggio was the starting 3B and hitting 5th lol. Offensively he was a disappointment in the game. - Jays lineup seems heavily right-handed at the top. In the late innings, just brought on a tough RHP reliever who mowed down Springer, Bo, Vladdy and Turner.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 I will cry actual tears if they keep Espinal and dump Clement. Prepare
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 I agree with this. He might just be the clearest DFA candidate on the 40-man at this point. It's not Wes Parsons anymore, and I doubt a 45 FV prospect like Zulu gets DFA like Sherm thinks. Something else I've wondered is, maybe Manoah gets phantom 60-day IL like Adam Cimber last year? It could be in the best interest of both the team and Manoah at this point. Team frees a 40-man spot and Manoah can collect major league pay on 60-day IL. I have no evidence for what I'm about to add here, but I think it's hilarious how Manoah started crying injury again right after he continued to look like 2023 Manoah in his spring appearance. He knows he's cooked, but still wants major league pay like last season when he wouldn't report to Buffalo. There’s a decent chance the dude is close to broke at this point and desperately needs the MLB salary

WryNGinger Verified Member Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 f***...this board is a freaking mess now. Make a post just to s*** talk another member? All good. Make a post to cause a topic that was "discouraged" to be brought up again? All good Post dumb s*** and then like it with you and your "bring out the gimp" fellow posters? All good This board is on the precipice if who controls the narrative. The inmates are close to controlling the asylum. I know there has been talk of discouraging new sign ups but I would be equally worried about keeping the people that actually come on here to talk baseball. What is anyone's guess as to how many just want to talk Bball? 20%...maybe. Show your mettle blue jays message board. Troll behavior is not hard to detect. I have offered to be a sponsor before, offer still stands. Maybe this isn't the board for "ahem...the masses". In my opinion if you want to constantly bring up Bauer, past trades (ad nauseum), past managers (double barf) and coulda- shoulda- whatever the f***... That was way too much to type while a bit drunk and angry at 80% of you ankle grabbers. Be f***ing better everyone!!! It's not hard to not be a f***ing twat from behind a keyboard. (And for those of you keeping it real and trying to keep the board on track, thank you sincerely for keep on keeping on.

Gotta give me credit where credit is due to really make that point sing. Awesome job me.

Laika Community Moderator Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 I respect that rant a lot It was loose and unhinged but there were many valid points in there
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 “Ankle grabbers” seems pretty homophonic to me. May as well have called everyone the other F word. Clearly the same intent

Clearly the same intent I mean - pegging is a thing for heterosexual men too, so I think "ankle grabbers" is a universal term for all those who enjoy prostate play.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 Clement is leading off and playing LF today.... make of that what you will
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 Clement is leading off and playing LF today.... make of that what you will He's the new starting LF! f*** YOU VARSHO!
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 Do we have a 2024 predictions thread? Or was that the projections thread?
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 Clement is leading off and playing LF today.... make of that what you will Sort of a big deal. Maybe it shows they are considering a bench of: Serven, Biggio, Clement, Espinal. Varsho being the backup CF and Biggio/Clement/IKF all being able to slot in at LF if necessary. Maybe RF too for some.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 The Espinal/Biggio two headed monster is eternal. It feels like these guys have been around since the 2015 team. We will never get rid of them and Babe Schneider is the latest casualty.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 so now they're love with Clemment, ffs give Schneider a shot

I still really really want them to punt Espinal in favor of having both Schneider and Clement on the team but I don't think it'll happen. Poor DS gonna get sent back to AAA

Poor DS gonna get sent back to AAA Well, DS is the presumptive 2B starter in the above scenario. They could however put Biggio/Espinal at 2B, demote Schneider, and have Lukes or Vogelbuns on the bench.
