Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Teo would have been nice to get back but it seems the Ms are still trying to compete this year. They traded Sewald but the bullpen is still solid.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Honestly stunned right now they didn't add a bat of any kind.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Maybe a Davis Schneider callup could be the right handed bat? Or maybe DeJong is just going to be the right handed bat and Whit kicks out to LF when necessary. If Schneider gets called up and plays a fair amount then I’m cool with this. Disappointed but at least we’d get to see a prospect who might be decent. If it’s status quo, then ********.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 How does that happen with a major league baseball front office? They likely didn't expect Ed-Rod to not waive his no trade clause to go the Dodgers. lol
M.E. Verified Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Why? I can tell you why I am. I don't believe in what I thought was going to be a quality line up can turn it on and deliver for this season at this point. I feel like they wasted another season and the hope that I had is destroyed.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Man I'd be choked if I were a dirty O's fan.. Jack Flaherty lol
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Author Posted August 1, 2023 This is the worst/least active trade deadline I can remember in the past 10 years. Not many big moves and like 0 blockbuster type trades. Oh and I told you all Ohtani wasn’t going anywhere. Yeah there just weren't a ton of sellers. And of those sellers, even fewer had things of value to actually trade.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 E-Rod vetoing a trade to the Dodgers is crazy he must hate them. He said he wanted to stay on the East Coast close to family, I think he just wanted to f*** over the Tigers, they had some issues earlier in ST, bet that's it.

Vladdy he has to be better, Springer has to be better, even Kirk needs to step up. You simply can't gameplan around some of your best players underperforming, you can't cover for that.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Sooo… Orioles didn’t add a good starter Yankees added nothing Whitsox didn’t trade Cease Royals didn’t trade Sal Angels didn’t trade Ohtani, added instead Cubs didn’t trade Stroman or Bellinger Cardinals sold half the team Padres didn’t trade Snell Wacky deadline this year. Jays actually did ok compared to most teams.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 No shot the Jays didn’t add a much needed RH OF bat right Davis Schneider, bring him home.

Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 I hope to hell we are not going to war with our bench bats being Espinal, Biggio and DeJong... beside from one of Belt/Kirk/Jansen.

Omar Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Ryu sucked since 2021. I would manage expectations. You're telling Masterbather to manage expectations!?! His expectations are already lower than a serpents belly.

Assuming Bichette is okay, Espinal needs to go at some point. His skillset is completely redundant with Dejong on board.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Author Posted August 1, 2023 If Bo is back and healthy soon, carrying both DeJong and Espinal might not make a ton of sense. Mancini and Nelson Cruz are a couple of right handed bench bats we could take a look at. We could call up Schneider as well.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Urias. who used to be decent, went from the Brewers to the Red Sox for nada.. Granted, Urias was in MILB, but nice depth piece for the minors.

Omar Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Obviously the Bichette injury required a course change for Atkins and he had to plug a hole, and that right quick. He would have added another impactful bat otherwise. Overall, this team is poised to have a good last third of a season. One of Ryu, Manoah, Kikuchi or Bassitt has to really emerge and separate themselves to own the #3 spot in this rotation. Going into the playoffs with question marks after Gausman and Berrios is not a good place to be. Don't despair of the bats folks. Pitching and defense will lead us to the promised land. Book it.
Delgalladay Verified Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 So was this a reset the trade deadline market year? Seems like teams didn’t want to over pay like the past couple seasons.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 So was this a reset the trade deadline market year? Seems like teams didn’t want to over pay like the past couple seasons. Yup.. Good on the buyers to not give in to outlandish proposals. Should help balance the market moving forward.

As a RHB bench bat that's fine I guess.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Espy could be optioned. Are Mancini or Cruz a viable option? As a RHB bench bat that's fine I guess. Mancini is toast. Cruz is midly intriguing as a Bench Bat. Especially considering who they are currently using in that role.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Author Posted August 1, 2023 Espy could be optioned. Are Mancini or Cruz a viable option? As a RHB bench bat that's fine I guess. Yeah I'm not sure about either of them but they could be options. Regardless, with Kirk hitting better lately, he and Jansen can be the right handed bat we need by DHing against lefties. Then by adding DeJong we've at least got a ton of multi-positional players, some of whom bat left and some of whom bat right. So when Bo is back to full strength, we should be able to platoon and sub enough so that the DeJong's, Espinal's, Biggio',s Belt's, etc. at least have the matchup advantage in most of their plate appearances. Whit being able to play 2B and the OF helps a lot in this regard. In another month the rosters expand so we can add another bat to take the pinch hitting madness even further. Maybe Clement or Schneider.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Mancini is toast. Cruz is midly intriguing as a Bench Bat. Especially considering who they are currently using in that role. Yeah, I doubt Mancini is toast, but he needs a reset on this season. Cruz wouldn't cost much of anything.
Dale Verified Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 I think Toronto management etc. just like to say Teoscar. Thank goodness we did not get him back. He has a good, not great bat, and is a poor fielder at best.

He got completely mind f***ed after all those defensive woes. And he's been utter s*** since he went to Houston. Like its long extended period time of s*** now.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 So glad I don’t have to hear about Tommy f***ing Pham anymore
