The full deal, as @Ken_Rosenthal said, is Paul Sewald to the Diamondbacks, with big leaguers Josh Rojas and Dominic Canzone as well as minor league middle infielder Ryan Bliss heading back to the Mariners.

But how is he going to get his rhythm in a pinch hitter / weak side platoon role?

Toronto needs a Steve Pearce type of player. Some 38 year old fridge who can just stand in LF if needed but can absolutely nuke LHP.

Connor Joe, 30 years old but still pre Arb, and mashing lefties.

Laureano could be a decent option.

He can hit fastballs but struggles against sliders. IDK how that would play out exactly but if there is something in the profile he could be worth it if the cost is a platoon player. I assume it would be given the injury history.

He can platoon with Varsho and KK this year and next year he can platoon again while also being our backup CF as I assume that KK will walk and Varsho will take over the full time CF duties.

BREAKING: #Rays acquire RHP Aaron Civale from #Guardians for 1B prospect Kyle Manzardo

Wow... big trade!!!

Just saw on MLBN Mets Canha to Milwaukee, just announced. Meh...

That seems like an overpay.

Also, I am now looking to acquire Civale in all forum leagues.

I just trade him, Jano and a 1st for Mets Alvarez in BBDL. lol

Good Mariners are selling. Should be able to get Teo dirt cheap and just play him against Lefties. He will be fine in LF.

Unless they have bigger fish in mind. Teo should be in their back pocket. They can have Macko back and be thrilled with it it.

I was a big Laureano guy for awhile but he’s been pretty exposed now that he can’t hit breaking balls.

Did you see Teo gift us some runs and bases on D during the Seattle series? Granted he also got a lot of runs for his team..

The more I think about it, since Duval will probably not get moved. With defense, cost and roster construction in mind. I think Ramon Laureano makes the most sense for a RHH.

I see you in most our leagues moving Varsho in packages lately and picking up Laureano? What gives man?

This is why he's the perfect DH platoon with Belt and can play the field only in emergency situations.

Listen he’s not a great defender. But the Jays OF has dynamically changed. Springer went to Right. Kiermaier in CF or Varsho for that matter is a completely different animal. We could probably hide a bad OF better than most teams. And Teo is not unplayable. Kyle Schwarber is unplayable.

I don't get why Cleveland just traded their best performing starter when they are 1/2 a game out of the division lead. Cleveland gonna Cleveland I guess.

Their hitters are really bad. It's basically Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor. Manzardo is a great get by them, unless Tampa has seen some things in AAA to make them reconsider his status as a valuable hitting prospect (he is 1B only with middling power after all). On the other hand, Cleveland shits out an Aaron Civale type out 4 times per year, they can and likely will easily replace him internally.

Everyone hates him around here but this is exactly right.

On top of it, after starting off the year 2 for 31 he's slashing .278/.352/.391 since mid April. He was also good in '21 and '22 when he played at a 2.8 WAR per 150 games played average. So he's got a solid track record.

He's a fine bench player/short side platoon player.

That's a broad brush you're painting dude? :P

Teo is 70th percentile this year Outs Above Average. Jumps are mid and his arm strength is 75th. He is more than serviceable in LF with his bat. Especially vs LHP.

A lot was made by some Jays fans about the HR he couldnt pull back. For Teo I thought that was a hell of an effort. Some OF'ers might not have even touched it.

I have a strong feeling Laureano will be moved to a contender at the deadline. More ABs (warming up) a change of scenery, being reinvigorated by a playoff race and hopefully a better hitters park than the Coliseum, I think he will be value added to me as a depth or UT piece.

I honestly think he will be fine. He could also DH vs Lefties. The key is despite his down Season overall he still hits Lefties hard. And we know he has dynamic game changing power and is guy that can go on a heater down the strech. He’s much better than the options we have now. It would be popular move with the club house and fans. Maybe they have a bigger move in mind. But bringing Teo in is just a good option.

Candeleria to the Cubs... There goes a 2b MikeM wants

Candelario hasn't played 2B a day in his life. Excellent switch hitting 3B starter on the other hand.

He didn't play 2b with the Tigers? I could swear he qualified at 2b in Fantasy... My bad

Yup, your right, I'm an idiot.... I don't know why I thought he played 2b for the Tigers..

Has Morosi ever been correct about anything?

He has but only because he throws everything at the wall and once in a while something sticks.

Blind squirrel finds nut.

Broken clock right twice a day.

.......etc. etc.

The Mariners are 3 games back of the Jays for the WC. Not sure why they’d trade Teoscar to a team they are trying to catch. He’s not having a good season but still fills a need for the Jays and he could easily get hot for 2 months.

Projected to be a worse team + they have a harder schedule.

It's a tough call but their playoff odds might be under 20% at this point.

They also have to jump four good teams. Not just Toronto.

They sold Sewald, so you have to think Teo is next. I think they are correctly reading the odds and the ability of their current team and want to take advantage of a sellers market to re-tool. Smart decision IMO.

Maybe their internal projections show that a 30 year old with a 24-150 bb/k isn't going to add too much anyway... Depending on who Teo's replacement is could improve the team by getting rid of him anyway.

The only reason Teo is keeping his WAR above replacement is his defense is less negative than other years.. who knows if that is real. Mariners have watched him up close and may be trading him to improve the 2023 team.

Yeah that's conceivable. Dylan Moore is a good player and barely playing. They just acquired Josh Rojas who was once good. I'm not sure if Kelenic is due back this year or not.

They could try Moore/Marlowe/Rojas out there more.

Its funny how some people think we can catch TB and the O's. but yet teams less games behind us can't catch us and punt us from the last WC. Probabilities and fangraph odds change quickly if a team gets on a run of Ws or Ls.

If this was 2015 and 16 we aren't even in a playoff spot right now. We are on a 89 W pace.

Work to do on the phones today Ross. Lets go. Bring Teo home.
