He's obviously happy to be in St Louis or he would have opted out of that deal before the start of the season when he could have probably gotten more in free agency than what was remaining. I guess that might have changed given their crappiness this season, but i doubt it's changed that much.

I would imagine the Season they have had has changed more than one opinion. He wants to win a World Series. I don’t think he would hesitate on the chance to move into a situation that helps him accomplish that. I just don’t want to hear any silly notions that players don’t want to come to Toronto. Toronto in the Summer time is as good as any city in Baseball. They don’t have the issues the Raptors do which is playing their season during the Canadian winter.

The only thing Nolan Arenado’s no trade clause does is hurt the value the Cardinals get in a trade. He controls where he goes and teams he wants to go to won’t have to give up as much. It’s ultimately going to come down to the Cardinals being able to convince him they can turn this around in 2024. He won’t want to wait 2-3 years. I think he moves for sure just not at the Deadline.

It's really weird, some people just see crossing the border that many times per year as annoying, it's not really anything to do with the city of Toronto itself. I dont really know why that would be annoyoing since youd only do it once every couple of weeks, and im sure it's not like they get strip searched every time or anything and probably get waived through pretty casually.

All Blue Jays players carry Nexus cards. The border issue is a non factor for them. They also aren’t going through the same terminals as the general public. If anything it’s a home field advantage.

I know, that's why i dont get why players that have never played there would see it as irritating. It's about as painless as any other flights they have anywhere else.

Lmao every season so far with Atkins and company has been just the trailer! I'm still waiting for the movie!

As for Biggio and Dickerson, it doesn't exactly have to be those guys. Again just was throwing out some names who could be cheap DH/1B/OF options during the offseason, similar to what Belt was last offseason. You're making it sound like it will be impossible to replace Belt as a DH haha. Heck even bring him back for $10-12M. I doubt he's getting multiple year offers this offseason.

Alright alright I declare a truce lol

If the Jays did trade for Arenado I think at that point Rogers would probably have given them the green light to go above the luxury tax and they'd be making a bunch of splashy moves including a well paid 2B and DH. We'll see how it shakes out but assuming the Jays don't spend well beyond the luxury tax I think I'd probably prefer they spread the money around some.

If it were up to me I'd like to see them use whatever money they have to extend Vlad and/or Bo. Try and patch up the holes they have relatively cheaply with trades and short term deals and carry on like Wild Card contenders.

The farm system has bounced back since the awful first month or so and I want the team to be in perpetual contention rather than going all in for a couple of years. That's my two cents anyway.

Jays are interested in Nelson Cruz for some reason. Lol

I saw that too. They don't really use the 26th man at all so if they see something in his profile that would allow him to be a part time DH while bringing the vetrin presents I'm all for it.

If you look at his statcast profile he's still above average against both fastballs and sliders; he just sucks against all the offspeed stuff. In today's MLB where velocity and sliders are all the rage he might still be useful.

Bench bat from the right side, makes sense.

I've had enough of the team taking flyers on players having terrible seasons around the trade deadline. We've been subjected to the likes of Brad Hand, Jonathan Villar, Jackie Bradely Jr. etc. For once I'd like to see players brought in who are in the midst of a solid season instead of rolling the dice on guys hoping for a bounce back. It worked out fine with Merrifield last season but this has been more the exception.

Maybe just bringing in an old flyball daddy to show Vlad how to train to hit homers

Honestly not a terrible idea. You give him a couple weeks to see if he jolt some power into the lineup. He’s also said to be a really good teammate. He will probably pinch hit and get the odd start.

I’m convinced, bring him into the fold

He strikes a little more fear into the heart of opponents than Santiago Espinal pinch hitting for Biggio or Kiermaier late in a game lol

It's a 26 man roster spot? I'm sure the Clement and Lukes of the world's will be fine, bro.

A sac fly with a runner on third would be okay too.

Guillermo Martinez would have Cruz lowering his K rate but hitting everything on the ground within a week.

Nelson Cruz is almost old enough to declare he no longer produces his own testosterone . Maybe we can get him on HRT and he can one last hooray to the 500 club.

Outside of the Berrios trade (which took place when they were running out a rookie with inning limits, and Stripling who had given up 15 July runs in 20 innings, with Kay and Zeuch as the next in line), is there anything about this front office which makes you think they will deal for a top rental? They will look for optionable starters (ala everyone's favourite Jay Mitch White), relievers who have at least 1 more year, and hitters who potentially fill one of the holes next year. I would be shocked if the Jays are in on rentals. I also didn't think they would be in the Luxury Tax though, so I know nothing.

Berrios wasn’t a rental, he had 1.5 years left.

So no, I don’t see the Jays going after a rental unless its a very light return going the other way.

Doesn't Scherzer have an opt out after this season?

I wouldn't mind giving up a couple sad sack lottery ticket 'specs to bring that old boy in for a stretch run. The Mets aren't going anywhere, they're f***ed.

Yeah he does have an opt out. Not sure he'd exercise it though. 43 mil for one year seems tough to turn down. Not sure we have the money for him but he'd be an interesting trade target.

Stroman has a 21 million dollar player option for 2024… probably as close to a guarantee as possible he turns that down right?

Yes, unless he gets hurt. :P

Honestly I would love to see Stroman back. He's as reliable as it gets, he's a proven playoff performer and he obviously loves Toronto and you know he would be absolutely jacked to come back.

Problem is we have bigger needs and the farm is not exactly bursting with high end talent.

So much in limbo when it comes to SP.

If Manoah is fixed and Ryu is still good the Jays don't really need to spend assets on another mid rotation starter like Stroman IMO

But if Manoah/Ryu are ineffective then we could certainly use Stroman.

I'd rather take a gamble on getting a potential ace though, a guy like Scherzer could possibly dig deep and win a playoff game all by himself.

Same with the bullpen, doesn't seem like we really need to add there, especially if Green comes back and is still a stud.

So all the Yankees need to do is fix their whole team with about 4 or 5 trades and then pray Judge can perform through a toe injury that he needs to get surgery on. Sounds like a great plan.

Im totally cool with the Yankees giving up a bunch of prospects to get pieces that will help with their failed playoff run
