Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 (edited) A thread specifically for discussion and updates regarding former Blue Jays players and staff, because former players are too Blue Jays related for Around Baseball but not Blue Jays enough for General Blue Jays Discussion. Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 The guy we got for Teo has been outstanding and is not a FA after this year
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 That announcer likes his job. Probably coke too
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 The guy we got for Teo has been outstanding and is not a FA after this year The guy who has pitched 1 and 1 third inning and already given up a run? LMAO
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 The guy who has pitched 1 and 1 third inning and already given up a run? LMAO 2.1 innings and 1 run. Get your facts straight
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 The guy who has pitched 1 and 1 third inning and already given up a run? LMAO 1.94 FIP. I mean, it's too small of a sample size to say ANYTHING, but a 1.94 FIP suggests that he's been "outstanding" in that small sample size.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 Hoping all these former Jays flop big time, but especially Moreno bc if he turns into a star that one will hurt the most.

I dunno, if Varsho plays at a 4-5 fWAR pace for the next 4 seasons, I would consider it a win. The population of 4-5 WAR catchers in the majors is pretty low, and I dont think Moreno is turning into Adley Rutschman or anything.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 God I love Gibby. Dude gives 0 f***s. Shares the link to the episode which shows how Whit's name is spelled, proceeds to spell his name wrong on his tweet regardless. Love it.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 All I noticed in that clip was his .105 batting average LOL. JK
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 All I noticed in that clip was his .105 batting average LOL. JK He got all of that, lol. Going to miss that huge smile.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 'Handsome Jake' Marisnick, the earliest Jays draftee still playing in the majors that I could find, is still carving out a major league career somehow.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 All I noticed in that clip was his .105 batting average LOL. JK It was .080 at the start of the game.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 'Handsome Jake' Marisnick, the earliest Jays draftee still playing in the majors that I could find, is still carving out a major league career somehow. Jake Lamb, Brandon Drury, and Gio Urshela all in the Angels starting lineup today. Angels are still kinda bad lol

Despite a career wRC+ of only 81 he's managed to be worth a little bit of positive WAR every year since 2015. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/jake-marisnick/11339/stats?position=OF

Im guessing he was like one year before Kris Bryant? EDIT.... Yep, Jake was 2009 along with Aaron Loup and Drew Hutchison, and that 2010 draft year still has Chad Green, Kris Bryant, and Thor still kicking in the bigs too. That was a pretty great draft year for talent.

bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 2.1 innings and 1 run. Get your facts straight Ye, honestly didn’t mean he was bad or was awful trade but position player vs relief pitcher is always going to be a bit tough to get excited about
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 Ye, honestly didn’t mean he was bad or was awful trade but position player vs relief pitcher is always going to be a bit tough to get excited about Teo is a FA after this season, Jays don't have the room to sign him At least 3 balls caught by Springer tonight, Teo doesn't catch Jays did very well in the trade
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 Teo is a FA after this season, Jays don't have the room to sign him At least 3 balls caught by Springer tonight, Teo doesn't catch Jays did very well in the trade Yeah. We have 4 guys capable of playing CF now. It's amazing. Making so many more plays.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 Ye, honestly didn’t mean he was bad or was awful trade but position player vs relief pitcher is always going to be a bit tough to get excited about That trade was very good for the Jays, an expiring contract for Swanson and Macko was a very healthy move moving forward. Solid move.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 He really had to call himself legendary. I see he hasn’t changed. Cripes. Want to take a guess as to the number of people in the history of the world who have 200 MLB starts? I'm not saying it's the epitome of modesty, but like... He's had a very, very impressive career, and it appears to be far from over.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 Stroman is like how Mike said Sonny Gray is always undervalued. Pretty durable guy who can give you 3 wins above replacement. The player the Jays need Berrios to be.
