jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 Giants grabbed him Some team was going to pick him up for depth and insurance, especially for down the stretch. Giants usually do well with these types of pickups. Wilmer Flores, JD Davis etc.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 He’ll hit 2 homers in his first couple games watch Headline at end of September: "DeJong's hot September propels Giants into the Postseason."
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 Have to hope youngsters in the Ms rotation start to fade while our old strong men barely flinch Guys like Kirby, Miller, and Woo have already reached their career highs in innings, so it's possible they start to fade in September. We'll see.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 How is he supposed to get better at pitching without pitching Working purely on fitness and mechanics maybe? Idk
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 Why not now?? Doesn’t the AAA season end soon? This doesn’t make any sense
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 Headline at end of September: "DeJong's hot September propels Giants into the Postseason." That sounds like such a SF Giants thing to happen too
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 How is he supposed to get better at pitching without pitching Working purely on fitness and mechanics maybe? Idk Hopefully... He better not be pouting and rage eating.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 How is he supposed to get better at pitching without pitching Working purely on fitness and mechanics maybe? Idk Well it seems pretty clear at this point that the Blue Jays are done with him pitching at the major league level this year. Even if there's an injury it seems they would be content to go with an opener over him.

Omar Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 How is he supposed to get better at pitching without pitching Working purely on fitness and mechanics maybe? Idk Send him to winterball as punishment. Preferably where his caloric intake can be monitored.

If he’s not going to watch his diet during the season under the eyes of the mlb team, he definitely won’t in some Dominican league You have to want it to lose 50lbs
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 Send him to winterball as punishment. Preferably where his caloric intake can be monitored. If he is sent to Dominican winter ball for the love of God don't let Vlad's grandmother cook for him. She has caused Vlad immeasurable damage with her culinary creations.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 Headline at end of September: "DeJong's hot September propels Giants into the Postseason." It wasn't wise to let him walk, should've just optioned Espy
metafour Verified Member Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 It wasn't wise to let him walk, should've just optioned Espy Agreed! Not "wise" for a team that isn't hitting to expectation to release the worst hitter in the league! Arghhhh so MAD!
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 It wasn't wise to let him walk, should've just optioned Espy 100%. Unnecessary. Better D unquestionably and arguably better offensively. Send Espy down. Good depth.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 100%. Unnecessary. Better D unquestionably and arguably better offensively. Send Espy down. Good depth. Unless they had a verbal agreement, but they traded for him, so I doubt it's that. Head-scratcher, man.

I don't think anyone is as "mad" as you right now when it comes to talking about DeJong and Espinal haha. All Jay and BigC were saying is that Espy could have been optioned in order to keep some more depth, which isn't a bad thing. DeJong is better defensively, has hit LHP well throughout his career and does have some pop. Rosters expand in almost over a week anyways, so Espy could have been brought back up. It's not like sending Espy down for 7 to 10 days would have hurt the Jays offensively lol.
