Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 But barely holding on the wild card spot and will have to outplay the Yankees and Astros down the strech to hold onto one. The Yankees are going to go crazy at the deadline more than likely. And the Astros are the Astros. The real wild card is Baltimore. Who of outside maybe Atlanta have been the most consistent team in Baseball. The playoffs will be easy to make.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 Lol the Yankees ain’t doing dick at the deadline that team is a mess I think they are going to full Lakers to try to shake up the team. Mess or not. They are very much in the playoff race. And they don't sell or rebuild. Judge or no Judge.

I could also see them making a big splash though for a longer term player as well though.

They need Judge back bad but he sounds pretty injured. Not sure how effective he'll be.

max silver Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 Yeah if I lived in Calgary I would get the best of the best so I didn't have to go outside too. Hey now Calgary is a perfectly nice city and typically has nice summer weather. The biggest concern recently is the bombardment of wild fire smoke from the northern half of the province during the spring, and now from BC as their wild fire season is in full swing.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 Daniel Greenberg @ChiSportUpdates The Toronto Blue Jays are showing strong interest in trading for Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Marcus Stroman, per @MLBBruceLevine. Not likely, nor advisable given our pathetic minor league depth. Seller's market. Besides, It's probably not enough to put us over the top as a true world series contender.
Jays333 Verified Member Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 I highly doubt the Jays have even close to the type of package its going to require to get Stroman. It aint happenin lol.

I would be on board. Stroman has pitched big games downs the stretch and in the Postseason. Would definitely be a welcome addition and nostalgia from the 2015/2016 days. Would be the perfect No. 2 behind Gausman in a rotation and Playoff series.
Jays333 Verified Member Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 The playoffs will be easy to make. I dont think so. The O's are only a game back of TB and show absolutely no sign of regressing. Believe it or not they are for real. The Yanks are completely devastated by injuries. They will buy at the deadline as well and probably get a big piece or two. They are no doubt going to get better. The Astros are also injury riddled and are still probably a top 3 team in the league. The Jays have been had near perfect health all season and are just starting to make up a few games on these injured teams. When they get healthy, and get their trade deadline pieces. The wildcard race will likely come down to the last few games of the season.

The O's have been for real since the second half of last year, although they need more starting pitching, they would be crazy not to make a move or two at the deadline.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 FYI for some: "The playoffs will be easy to make" is a 10+ year old meme from the old mesaage board. When posted it is usually being used in jest.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 Jays win 8 of their last 9 and sweep an an NL West team fighting for division supremacy and we have dildo's still talking about how we're not good enough. Insufferable.

No I don’t think this current team is good enough to win a World Series. A couple quality pieces can put them in a much better position however. The offense is a legit concern in a short series.

No, all these teams in the East are going to try and improve, and the Blue Jays are feared throughout the league as well. It's a 2 way street, man. That sounds like a defeatist post to me, Jonn, all cause Term posted the Jays were 6th in the MLB.

Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 Regarding Stroman: Meh. I don't really want him back given that: 1. Pitching shouldn't be the main concern. I'm happy with Gausman and Berrios as playoff #1 and #2. I'm sure out of Bassitt, Manoah, Kikuchi, Ryu and the pen the Jays can get by on #3 somewhere in there. 2. Will probably cost too much. 3. Not going to rage like Carlos Danger, but yeah the divorce from Toronto seemed permanent and the same guys who traded him while he fell out of favour here are still here. If it's a choice between Stroman and anyone other than Stroman, especially a bat, I'm picking the latter. If it's Stroman or bust, I guess you take what you can get but not at a steep price.

No s***, there's a lot of ball to be played and the team does need to improve, I'm speaking about the post I attached with all the fellating of what we're going to be up against, we've all known this wasn't going to be easy, never is. Just cause we're *barely hanging on to a post season position*, doesn't mean the Birds don't deserve respect, we're a good f***ing team.
