"Discovered" ok...just for fun I decided to check out his Twitter. The second thing on his feed is a retweet wishing Trump to be back as President and general right-wing political stuff all the way down. His personal politics shouldn't be an issue, but if it is, why did these Sherlock Holmes enthusiasts wait until now? Not like the guy was in hiding about it. And then you brought this cancer here to I guess spark a discussion? Shame on you.

Oh come on. Don't call election denial stuff general right wing politics. Have some more respect for them than that, unless you figure that's standard and normal for them, which frankly that seems like taking a pretty dim view of them.

Also it's his likes page that people found, and I cannot imagine a way in which to see that Mel Gibson one as normal haha.

Fix manoah, add pen piece, add a bench bat to crush lefties. That's about that can be done with this roster given it's remarkably good health.

A slightly less likely scenario would be that Manoah gets fixed AND Ryu AND Green come back, which would shift Kikuchi to the pen, trade or DFA Cimber, Hatch or whomever else they need to to make roster room. There's really not a lot of big moves that can even be made with this roster. It's tweaking, or gutting, and they wont be gutting.

OK - fair. How big would you go with the pen piece? Are we moving Orelvis now that he's hitting above the Mendoza line? Can this team afford to wait for them to 'fix' Manoah (something that may never happen)? Or should we add another starter right now before we fall further behind?

I see Twitter and Reddit have discovered Dave Hudgens (Jays bench coach) twitter likes. That may not go down great for him, since beyond the usual type of anti-pride month stuff, he's got a good mix of denying elections, anti-vax, BLM, Tucker Carlson supporting stuff.

And also some weird about Mel Gibson related post, that's definitely on the questionable end of things.

I gotta say looking through it, whatever you think about any of the individual topics, taken as a whole this man is like a grade A moron. Anyone like him who genuinely really believes like Kari Lake was robbed of an elections is a remarkably stupid person.

I’m not seeing anything wrong with this. Unless he comes out and says things political in public. Who cares what he likes on Twitter.

Its time to separate the individual from the professional. Every person on this planet has had a hateful moment or controversial take.

Can this political nonsense please not overshadow my tirade and then legitimate question about what people on this board would do with the team in it's current state? Thank you.

I mean I certainly have, but I've managed to keep it away from being publicly visible. I didn't go search this, it's already out there because of him, which was then amplified by others on social media. It's not avoidable, it's a different world with social media and it's going to come up every time forever.

You can say who cares, and you don't need to, but people will and already have.

The problem with this team is that this 2019-2025 window was predicated on Vlad and Bichette both being superstars. Bichette has basically been a 4-5 WAR player every season so he’s living up to the expectations but Vlad hasn’t even been a 4 WAR player if you combined his WAR in 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023. How do you fix this? Find a superstar piece to pair with Bichette and expect Vlad to be a 2-3 WAR player until 2025 when he will undoubtedly have a prime Pujols type of year before hitting the open market.

I wouldn’t have any issue with a trade deadline retool that involves trading impending FAs (Merrifield, KK, Chapman, Belt, etc) and even a riskier move like selling high on Romano. The issue with that is I don’t want Ross Atkins to be the one making those trades, and replacing Romano for a smart front office would be a lot easier than Atkins having to replace him.

I really don’t see any realistic scenario other than Atkins doubling down on this roster and trading prospects for immediate help. Thankfully the farm system is ass cheeks right now so whoever he trades probably won’t hurt the team unless he moves Tiedemann, but still.

That's fair.

Not really a lot of ways to make any kind of big move. This isn't a team with the prospects to add some real move the needle pieces.

It's more just hope things start working better internally. Kirk hits better, Vlad hits better. The pitching is less volatile. That either Manoah or Ryu come back and provide some positive value. The roster really is mostly set, it's just going to be about those pieces working better.

And that RISP regresses back to a reasonable level.

Yup this is important. Ross seems to excel in the shrewd trades, like trading an OK guy for a diamond in the rough.

He does not have a good track record when trading for an established star or offloading great players for prospects

Why stop there? I wonder what we could get for Bo, Vlad, Gausman, Berrios and Kirk. This team is s***. I'd hate to see Bo go because he's a fantastic baseball player, but he'll never have success here. Vlad's a POS. Fat, entitled rich boy who doesn't give a f*** about winning or being the best player he can be. You can't build around this guy as he sets no example for his team. Go back and work on your home run derbies in the DR with your buddies while eating grandma's fatty meals. Not many players waste as much talent as Vlad does.

Think of the rebuild if we had a fire sale. Bo, Vlad, Gausman, Berrios, Kirk, Chapman, Whit, KK, Belt, Romano, Bassit, Swanson. We're probably stuck with Varsho unfortunately after making the worst trade in franchise history. The issue is we obviously need a new GM first, so we may need to defer this until the offseason. I just had to tell my 12 year old that we're cancelling his birthday at the dome because we don't support f***ing beta losers like the Jays.

Wow!

The games lately have brought out the shittiest takes ever - hire Mattingly. Bring back the HR jacket - We miss the Barrio antics - Let’s bunt more - Hit Whit lead off - trade Vlad etc etc etc Bottom line is until the players actually produce closer to their projections it’s just going to look like this.

No doubt, most looked at the schedule and marked the 19th for when they should go on a very good run, so far they layed an egg. 11-0 Welp... I expect much better going forward.

If its me nothing, we dont have a farm system to make any big splashes unless your trading your last two big pieces Tiedman and Maritnez. If the ships going to sink let it sink and Atkins can be shown the door, goodbye.

If I am Atkins I probably feel the heat and know if better results do not come to pass I am likely done soon so I will probably make a bunch of jerky trade deadline moves that reek of desperation and might improve the team marginally in the short term but will kill the teams future even further than it already has been.

Piling new s*** next to the existing s*** pile isn't going to do much bud. Vlad is the largest piece of s*** in the pile - if you're going to get ride of the stink in Toronto, it starts with him. You can't build teams around losers. I wonder what we could get for him. Maybe a couple of prospects in the 50-100 range?

lol... where's Brownie at? You've been hacked.

C'mon - that's a legitimate question. What is this FO going to do with this team? Just sit there and HOPE we turn it around? or will they actually do something about it to try and change their own fate. Will they try all the gimmicky s*** like firing the manager or the hitting coach? Will they make an aggressive trade to bring in some help?

This FO is taking a ton of criticism right now - what do the smart arm chair GM's think we should do?

Play better.

seems baseball relevant to me

we literally just saw stupid social media smoke turn into a contributing factor of an MLB RP losing his job in a matter of weeks

if the Reddit losers are digging this up now then it's at least plausible that Hudgens' time with the Blue Jays will soon be over

I don’t know who needs to hear this but I bet three quarters of players and staff have similar views as ol Davey. Maybe the people who have an issue with that should boycott the MLB

You gotta wonder if he just DGAF or is just stupid to not have made his socials private after the Bass fiasco.

Oh no! The Jays may lose their Hitting "Strategist"! How will this team survive?

The woke mob may single-handedly be the reason for turning this season around.

Now if only Guillermo Martinez was a closet perv. That would be perfect.

I don't really give a s***. Not gonna look it up or check his Twitter. The substance is not even relevant. The story is just that Hudgens' political views might lead to... something.

BREAKING NEWS: Boomer-aged coach has boomer political views

That isn't meant as a slight to anyone who says this could lead to something because it certainly could. But I really hope it doesn't. I do not want the Jays to be the only team to remove a player and coach over political/culture war views. There's a lot of players and coaches who agree with these guys and it wouldn't be ideal to be the one team seen as punishing these people.
