Damn too bad he was only stretched out for *checks notes* …33 pitches

The concept of developing a SP prospect is so foreign to the current Jays FO that they probably don't even remember how to do it. Not saying Francis is going to turn into anything but giving him a start against a middling Central team at home didn't seem like a terrible idea. Not sure why they went the way they did, especially since as far as I recall he was stretched out in his last minor league start.

I guess just be thankful the Jays rotation hasn't had the injuries that the Yankees rotation has had.

If they had the entire staff would just be a bunch of guys who throw 30-40 pitches with a 4.50 FIP

Yup we have one SP go down and Atkins answer is a guy who can come in and throw 30 pitches. This team is built on sand its going to cave in on itself at any moment.

Call me crazy, but I think I picked up on Bowden tipping his breaking balls and I think Minnesota picked up on it also. The first few hitters were dispatched quite easily but after that it looked to me like they had the timing down on both the slider and the curve pretty much perfectly. Almost like his body in his delivery as just a bit more upright when he threw the breaking balls vs the fastball.

First three batters he faced struck out, and got 4 swinging strikes. Then, of the next 7 hitters he faced he recorded exactly 0 swinging strikes, and gave up EVs of 100.4, 99.9, 103, 98, 100.5, 104.5, 74.2, 94.2 and 91.1.

Especially after the Jay Jackson situation if I were the video guys I’d be really looking at Francis’ video from today to make sure he didn’t have something giving away the breaking balls

I also acknowledge this could be nothing more than a 10 batter sample size being weird

Great take. The jury is still out with me regarding Schneider but that's a great observation.

Blue Jays are 0-2 without Anthony Bass

Toronto Cavers

You could probably make a good guessing game out of taking the roster and thinking if they made comments objecting to marketing transgenderism to kids, would they be:

Safe

Cut

Traded

Ex: Vlad- safe, Biggio- cut, Romano- traded

Last I saw it was Toronto Cavers, lol

Last call on him was in 2021

Probably on Ryu. With today’s surgery track record maybe he will come back 40 lbs lighter and touching 98. A Korean Chapman.

He's half that anyhow.

At least we aren't the Mets. Bring in a good GM and maybe things can be fixed fairly quick. Atkins needs to go.

Jays just won an epic game! No way Atkins goes!

sorry, had to stop laughing at that one.... AHEM

OK, I know I'm going to take a lot of crap for this one, but for me, it was nice to see Cavan hit that ball out today. I'm a fan of his and I'm of the opinion that he just needs more time to hone his craft. I know he has a couple of big holes in his swing, but I think he just needs more consistent playing time. He's got baseball in his genes. Craig was an excellent hitter for many years. I think Cavan is just taking longer to blossom. I like what Merrifield brings obviously but I think they need to make more of an effort to plug him in. He can play first when u wanna rest Guerrero and he's not the worst outfielder I've ever seen. I just think theres a lot of hidden talent there.

Or maybe I just dipped my bread in my soup? lol

French onion?

Biggio is a good enough player that he can and will find work anywhere even if he’s let go by the Jays in the upcoming off-season. Yes, he has power, yes he has a great eye at the plate but, as you said he has massive hole in his swing at the top of the zone against any kind of velo. Doesn’t even have to be up and out of the zone, top of the zone is fine and he will swing through it far more often than not. Couple that with a near passive approach at the plate. He’s a guy that it’s easy to see the talent, but he still hasn’t adjusted to what pitchers are doing to him to nullify his strengths at the plate. if he does, he goes back to his 110-120 wRC+ we saw early in his career.

His defensive versatility is nice even though he’s probably average wherever he plays, and also a pretty good base runner.

He’ll probably get some more playtime now with Belt possibly going to the DL. Really hoping he makes the most of it

How much longer do you think it will take for him to blossom? He's 28 years old and we are in year 5.

At some point "he is what he is" begins to apply
