This guy has come up with several key hits and has scored quite a few important runs as of late.
I'm of the opinion that this guy is a starting position player. He not only has baseball pedigree but if you look at his career stats? He has never played in more than 100 games in his career, with 354 AB'S as his max.
Some of it was due to injury and some of it poor performance. But I think both of those things can be partially attributed to his performance.
IMO, he's a guy that can play several positions and play better than average defense at them all aside from right field. I think he can be a guy that hits 20 home runs, drives in 75, steals 20 bases, hits .260 and puts up and OPS of about .725 to .775.
I think it was John who made a valid point, being how long can you wait for a guy. but the fact is, if you look at his numbers, he's never played anything close to a full season where he gets 550 AB'S. It's all been broken by several injuries and then lacklustre performance.
I think that what we are seeing now is a healthy Cavan and if I were in charge(thank facking jesus I'm not), he'd be my starting 2B and when he's not playing there, he's at first, third or left field. I think management is missing out on a diamond in the rough. Injury free, I believe he gives you good numbers, bordering on excellent defense and a WAR of 3 or more. I just can't ignore the fact that baseball is in his genes. Craig was a very good player, I mean the guy is 6th in doubles all time. While recording over 3,000 hits, hitting over .280 career and scoring almost 2 thousand runs all while being chosen as a seven time all star.
I believe in him, my gut tells me he is a starting major league player.
